이 이야기는 2018년 12월 25일부터 시작된다.
2018년 어느 날, 멈춰 있던 차 안에서 이유도 모른 채 가슴이 너무 답답했다.
평소와 다를 것 없는 하루였는데, 그날만큼은 내 감정이 달랐다.
정확히 기억나진 않지만 불안, 화, 억울함 같은 감정들이 한꺼번에 밀려왔던 것 같다.
점점 눈이 감겼다. 그대로 잠이 들었고, 이상하게도 편안했다.
잠을 자는 동안만큼은 그 감정들을 잊을 수 있었으니까 그렇게 나는 잠에 기대며 시간을 보냈다.
그러다 문득 이런 생각이 들었다.
나는 지금 회피하고 있는 건 아닐까.
그 생각과 함께, 이렇게 살고 싶지는 않다는 마음이 들었다.
그때부터는 피하기보다 부딪혀 보기로 했다.
무너지는 날도 있었고, 다시 일어나는 날도 있었다.
그렇게 하루하루를 살아왔다.
그 시간을 지나며 한 가지는 분명해졌다.
나와 같은 감정을 겪는 사람들의 마음을 쉽게 말할 수 없게 되었다는 것
삶에 쉬운 건 없다. 그래도 우리는 살아가야 한다 죽을 용기가 없어서가 아니라,
살아 있는 동안 조금이라도 덜 후회하기 위해 살아가는 것이라고 믿고 싶다.
이 앨범은 2018년 12월 25일부터 지금까지 내가 살아온 이야기다 그리고 누군가에게는 우리도 이런 감정들과 맞서며 살아갈 수 있다'는 작은 메시지가 되었으면 좋겠다.
우린 할 수 있다.
무너지는 것이 이런 감정들의 목적이라면 나는 끝까지 져주지 않을 생각이다.
원래 쉽게 지는 걸 싫어하는 사람이라 그런지.
순순히 받아들이는 건 내 성격에 맞지 않는다.
그러니까 오늘도 살아본다
그냥 사는 건, 이런 거다.

Jackson Wang shared a heartfelt message with fans on Weibo alongside his newly released single “Thank You,” opening up about the entertainment industry, his identity as an artist, and his direct relationship with his fans.

“The world we live in is already chaotic enough. There are too many uncertain things, too many things we cannot control. To me, the meaning of the entertainment industry is simply to serve everyone and bring happiness to people. I’ve always felt that this is a place where people can release all kinds of emotions. It could be happiness, it could be being moved, it could be giving you some strength, or it could truly touch you in a certain moment. Of course, it could also be gossip, negative emotions, or even dislike and anger. But I think all of these are a form of release. That is the essence of this industry.

Very often, in life and at work, there are many things people cannot say, many emotions they cannot express, and many things they can only keep in their hearts. But the ‘entertainment circle’ can give you a space. A place that lets you feel, express, and release. That’s just facts.

And as an artist, whether the feedback I ultimately receive is good or bad, I feel very lucky. Because I have this opportunity to be part of this process. As long as you can gain even a little something from it, I think it already has meaning.

Actually, if you really think about it: I feel that an artist is essentially a product. I am a product. And I am also the product manager of myself.

I am very clear about what I want to do, what I want to express, and where my direction is. So I will never let anyone decide for me what I should do or what I should put out. Because no one knows better than I do what I truly want.

Likewise, I don’t need anyone standing between me and you. I don’t need a middleman, and I don’t need any filtering. Because from day one, this has always been about me and you. It’s about me and my fans, my audience. I hope you can understand me as much as possible. Not through what others tell you about what kind of person I am, not through guesses, or the version of me you imagine. But truly knowing what kind of person Jackson really is.

My good sides, my bad sides. My strengths, my weaknesses. I hope you can all see them. I think the relationship between an artist and fans should be like this from the beginning. It should be the most direct connection. And it should also be the people who understand each other the most.

Truth is always more important than imagination.

So, I truly thank you all very much. Without the opportunities you gave me, without the support and blessings you’ve given me all along, I could never have created everything I have today. I also could never have come this far.
