Researching 18 Allied soldiers from WW2 held as PoWs in a small shed in Normandy & delivering talks far & wide about them. Some say that it should be a book!
Another successful research trip to Normandy, celebrated with a beer & food at another great Black Country pub. This time, we've chosen The Great Western, Wolverhampton
@SMF144@thebathams@WW2TV Hi, just seen this; apologies for the delay. Reprint of book on order (prob receive early New Year). Β£25 +post (Β£5 in UK). Probably easier to arrange via email Colin(AT)menintheshed(dot)com
@FennellJW@bobbobbobing In fact, IIRC in Enemy Coast Ahead, Guy Gibson stated that when he was flying Beaufighter night fighters, on a break from Bomber Command, some pilots were bemoaning it's flying/landing characteristics...until one was landed perfectly by an ATS delivery girl π
For every retweet of this post, I will donate Β£1 to the @VC_and_GC_Assoc up to Β£50,000.
Time is running out following @I_W_Mβs decision to close the Lord Ashcroft Gallery.
Visit while you still can, to honour the bravery of those who risked so much to protect our great nation.
In what is beginning to appear to be a tradition, we are back at @thebathams#Vine#BullandBladder at the end of another successful research trip into the 18 PoWs that we are researching
@ReassessHistory I've heard different comments on this book. Some parts little detail... IIRC no or scant mention of start of Bluecoat when 6GTB broke through & provided hard shoulder that allowed 11AD & GAD to exploit. Maybe that's just me being picky π
@RAF_Luton Given that some aircraft in WW2 were simply polished aluminum instead of camo to reduce weight & increase speed, I hope that a good quality paint stripper is applied between colour changes to avoid weight issues. π
Those things that you wonder... A couple of years ago when we visited @thebathams after #Normandy#Research visit, a post was commented upon by @DavidBrunt11 - the son of one of the PoWs that we are researching - nothing since. Are you still out there David, or does anyone know?
Can tell we're back from another #Normandy trip & pression beers... @thebathams#Mild... Absolutely on form. Sadly, the liquid won't remain in that glass too long π
@ReassessHistory@TheBigSleazy24 I made similar comment on the YT video... To be fair, it's a better effort than another one that's out there from MFP π
