🌍 A new chapter for ECOTRUST!

@ECOTRUST_Ug is taking its conservation expertise beyond Uganda, providing technical support to the NbS Guinean Forest Project across Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire & Guinea, following its engagement by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

On the ground, @ECOTRUST_Ug is training teams in biodiversity monitoring, using camera traps and acoustic devices to capture wildlife and the sounds of forest ecosystems.

We’re also strengthening inclusive, gender-sensitive community engagement through the GALS methodology.

This week, we are visiting Communal Land Association- beekeeping projects in Masindi District.

Yesterday marked the first day of the field visits, where we met one of our bee keepers/farmers, Sabiiti Mbabazi of Kimanya Village, Rwentumba Parish.

What started with just 10 hives has grown to over 100 today, enabling families to benefit from the forest without degrading it. Bees are now supporting both conservation and household incomes in Rwentumba Parish.

Rwentumba Communal Land Association in Masindi district has turned forest conservation into a source of livelihood through beekeeping. With support from ECOTRUST, the community adopted beekeeping as a way to protect the forest while generating income.
