JADE gives an emotional speech about the LGBTQ+ community at her Lollapalooza Aftershow in Chicago:
“I wanted to do a special version of this next song [Church] because I think, now more than ever, songs like this are very important. I wrote this for my LGBTQ+ fans, because I know I wouldn’t be where I am today were it not for that community. Whether it’s fans or friends or chosen family, I truly am the person I am today because of my LGBTQ+ community and friends – so thank you.
I know there’s a lot of awful things going on right now… in politics, and some awful things have happened recently… and I think it’s important to remember just how fucking special you are, and how you really do have an army of allies around you who will always uplift you, stand up for what’s right, stick by you no matter what.
That’s what this song is all about. This is my eternal lover letter to the community. Now, I know it’s called Church, but it’s not necessarily about that, darling!”
JADE makes her Lollapalooza debut in Chicago tomorrow.
Her performance at the legendary festival takes place on the Allianz Stage from 5:45pm–6:45pm CDT, and her set will be broadcast live on Hulu and Disney+: https://t.co/CodpiDCLs6.
