A father said to his son:
“You graduated with honors. Here’s a Volkswagen Beetle I bought many years ago… It’s over 50 years old, but before I give it to you, take it to a downtown dealership and ask them how much they’ll offer you.
”The son went to the dealership, came back and said:
“They offered me $10,000 because it looks very worn out.”
The father replied:
“Now take it to a pawn shop.”
The son went to the pawn shop, returned and said:
“They only offered me $1,000 because they said it’s too old.”
Finally, the father told him to take the car to a classic car club.
The son did so, came back and said:
“People at the club offered me $100,000! They said it’s a very rare and highly sought-after car among the members.”
The father then said to his son:
“I wanted you to understand that the right place will value you the right way.
If they don’t appreciate you, don’t get angry... it simply means you’re not in the right place. Those who truly know your worth are the ones who truly value you.
Never stay somewhere that doesn’t recognize your value!”
On Aug. 12, 2026, a total solar eclipse will cross Greenland, Iceland, Spain, and a small part of Portugal, while the Perseids peak around the same new-moon night. A six-planet “parade” is also expected before dawn, but Uranus and Neptune will need optics, and the view depends heavily on horizon, weather, and location. Rare sky day, yes, just not equally visible everywhere.
For more than 20 years, Canadian photographer François Brunelle has tracked down strangers who look almost identical despite having no known family connection.
He photographed these unrelated “twins” together, often as they meet for the first time.
