Our thesis playing out fairly rapidly. Majorly bearish OAI / Anthropic. Personal compute will win, with self-custodial hardware and ~ no monthly API costs.
You can now host frontier AI on average hardware
Deepseek v4 Flash has arrived and it BEATS Fable on some benchmarks
O and you can run some versions of it on 96gb Mac Studio or even a DGX Spark
$4,000 hardware now gives you unlimited super intellgence
This rocks the AI industry to the core. Frontier labs won't be able to get away with charging exorbitant prices for intelligence (cough Fable)
The more these labs battle, the more we as the consumer win
Never been more important to get into local AI, especially as the hardware only gets more and more unavailable
America just had its AI Sputnik moment. Kimi K3 dropped a bombshell: 2.8 trillion parameters, the largest open-weight model ever built headed. straight to number one. Possible built on chips two generations behind NVIDIA's best, under US export controls designed to make exactly this impossible
-- K3 is #1 in front-end code and six other domains: marketing, design, data analytics, consumer products, simulations, and content creation.
-- The model designed its own chip for its next generation and wrote its own inference kernels. Recursive
-- 70% of elite AI researchers are not US citizens. The founder of Moonshot AI earned his PhD at Carnegie Mellon and started a Chinese AI startup one year into his US program.
-- Bonsai 27B: a GPT-5 class model now runs entirely on a smartphone at 6 gigabytes.
The leading AI has already forked into two options.
A: Closed source American that costs $26-56 per 1MM tokens.
B: Open weight Chinese that costs $0.50-1 per 1MM tokens.
If you force American companies to spend 50-100x more than their competitors abroad here is what will happen:
1. American companies spending 50-100x will at some point become financially impaired and the stock market will crater. This is the equivalent of the US Government saying we can only buy oil at $800/barrel even when the free market sells the same oil for $80/barrel.
2. In the short term, the revenues of the Closed American Labs may remain hi. But then their revenue will also crater because their customers in the US will be impaired and their customers abroad will have already flipped to cheaper solutions.
This would be a terribly self-defeating form of intervention if it were to happen.
Too early to call (by several years), but this tweet is already aging well after a month. @Kimi_Moonshot has surpassed Fable/GPT on several key benchmarks, marking the first time a Chinese model has surpassed an American one. Not to mention, Kimi K3 is open weight / open source. Electricity wins every time. Our next batch of investments will be squarely in the data center space.
It's a shame I deleted all my old tweets. I found some great gems, including calling @onepeloton a COVID phenomenon (true), @Clubhouse a flash in the pan (need I say more), BitClout / FriendTech fads (lol), etc. I'll go on record now and say I'm incredibly bearish on @OpenAI and @AnthropicAI as financial investments because I believe in a year or so, we'll have models as good as what they have today, running for free on our phones. Sure, they'll always have slightly better models, and people will pay for "early access" to the best, but for the average person, it won't be worth $200/mo for the subscription. And once the AI giants stop subsidizing our tokens like Uber did in the early days, the majority of users (even software engineers) will use something "good enough" rather than pay full freight for something just a little better.

5 months ago I spent $30,000 on 3 Mac Studios, 2 Mac Minis, and a DGX Spark
I went all in on local LLMs and encouraged others to do the same
I warned prices would explode
I was called crazy, a hype beast, dangerous, and that I had no idea what I was talking about
Since then:
• Mac Studios above 96gb have become unavailable
• Memory prices have 4x’d
• Other hardware prices have 10x’d
Now those same AI influencers who destroyed me are spending 5 to 6 figures on hardware publicly
GLM 5.2 dropped and it’s Opus level. I’m running it on 1 of my 3 Mac Studios 512gbs. The same ones I was called an idiot and hype beast for buying. The same ones that are reselling for triple the price used.
The insane part is this is just the beginning
Intelligence will be integrated into every device you own, including devices that aren’t even publicly available yet like humanoid robots
All of these new devices will require GPUs, memory, storage, and more components
Components that have already 10x’d in price
That’s not even counting all the people that will start vibe coding when Codex and Claude Code become more mainstream
Right now less than 1% of the world is even taking advantage of those tools
Imagine what happens when it reaches 2%
The local revolution is here. Hardware is the bottleneck
Act accordingly
Remember nobody with real wealth makes it being short the people running around acting like it’s end of day’s will always be here and continue to be poors
I guarantee you throughout your journey in crypto you can be as wrong as you want about everything if you want but as long as you stick around you’re gmi
Random shit is going to double everyday now for the next month the huge hot ball of money is on the move please for the love of god don’t be short anything no matter how dumb you may think it is
