The Kwale Linda Mwananchi tour was done fibre by fibre to create one huge fabric. The tactics Edwin Sifuna used today were something I had never witnessed before. Instead of using highways and major markets for stopovers, he surprised us with a completely different approach.
He went village by village. In today's Kwale tour, he visited Msambweni Constituency, covering all four wards: Gombato Bongwe, Ukunda, Kinondo and Ramisi.
He then proceeded to Kinango Constituency, where he covered Ndavaya, Pangani, Mackinnon Road, Chengoni/Samburu, Kasemeni, Kinango and Mwavumbo.
What stood out to me was the emphasis on reaching people at the grassroots. This was not just about addressing crowds at major centres. It was about making direct connections with wananchi in their own villages.
The message behind this approach is clear: every ward, every village and every household matters. Political mobilisation cannot always be about waiting for people to come to you. Sometimes, you have to go looking for them.
Edwin Sifuna is demonstrating a different approach to grassroots political engagement, one village at a time.
BEYOND THE RALLY: WHY POLICY MUST TAKE CENTRE STAGE.
One of the most important aspects of political leadership is the ability to translate public concerns into clear policy positions and practical governance priorities.
Following our party leader and presidential candidate H.E. Edwin Watenya Sifuna’s address in Kwale yesterday in our very successful rally, 4 key areas that speak directly to Kenya’s governance and economic realities were addressed ;
1. Land ownership- Any govt must be keen in securing legal ownership and title deeds for the communities, particularly those who continue to face historical land injustices at the Coast.
2. Transparency in government deals- Ensuring commercial agreements involving public assets and natural resources and minerals are open to public scrutiny, with communities recognised as key stakeholders. This is non negotiable for us in Linda Mwananchi Movement Party.
3. Equitable benefit from natural resources- Ensuring Kwale & Coast resource-rich communities share meaningfully in the economic value generated from their land.
4. Constitutional values- Making the values and principles enshrined in Article 10 central to governance and public policy is fundamental and our foundational principle as the Linda Mwananchi Movement Party.
The right to life for example is a a right we will continue reaffirming that it is the state's fundamental obligation to protect every citizen and uphold constitutional rights. The legitimacy of any government is measured by its ability to protect life something the current regime has failed at.
Lastly H.E Edwin Sifuna echoed that the rule of law and constitutionalism in any state ensures that public institutions and government decisions are guided by the Constitution rather than political expediency.
Upholding the presidential oath and ensuring that the exercise of executive power remains within constitutional limits uphold & encourages the investment climate in Kenya, public finance, property rights, resource governance, institutional accountability and the relationship between economic growth and social justice.
Lets keep engaging towards a better Kenya.
