As a former trainee in the Therapeutics for Rare & Neglected Diseases program @ncats_nih_gov, I find it endlessly cool to see #RareDiseaseDay lighting up the Chicago skyline.
My first first-author paper is up online! It features 103 compounds, six tables of data, some colorful docking poses, and contributions from a great team of chemists and biologists.

Throwback to 2016 when @NIHDirector came to @NUFeinbergMed and graciously took a few minutes for a photo with some aspiring physician-scientists. Here’s hoping for a career even half as impactful as his!
As someone who’s frequently bowled over by migraines and about as frequently wonders about being seen as weak or unreliable for it, I really enjoyed this @NatureFutures piece by @BethCato. Definitely struck a nerve! (not the trigeminal)

It started out this shade of orange. Changed to deep purple when I added acid. I really wasn't trying to make a pH-sensitive dye, but I guess that's what I got.
@theorryouknow@ShutdownFullcas It wasn't so picturesque from inside the plume. I got a lungful of Lake Michigan water and was drenched from head to toe. Two ladies came around the curve, the wave long gone, and asked with great concern if I'd just fallen in.
I then had to run two miles back to my apartment.
@theorryouknow@ShutdownFullcas But it's too late for me, and I instinctively run right up to the base of the seawall with the wave on my heels.
Extremely bad choice. The wave hits the wall hard, sending up what I imagine was a picturesque plume.
Some quality sportswriting from the brother: "Loneliness is a façade. The people who care may not be right there in person, but they are there for you, I promise. Just look. If you still can’t find them, look harder."
