@GarethDace Enjoyed that one, thanks - one of my favourite seasons, I'd give it a "7" too! Everton, Soton and Norwich games all stand out. Also Barmby's header to make it 3 vs W'don. Listening to JP's "Ready, steady Teddy" when we beat Leeds. Rare goals at the Holmesdale Rd end at Palace too
@GarethDace I grew up listening to Capital Gold Sport, but listening to the 2-1 vs the Goons in October 1989 + the vital wins against Southampton (3-0) and Oldham (2-0) in Spring '94 particularly stick in the mind..!
@MrTimDunn A distinctive smell that I used to love as a kid, a humming sound as it pulled away from the station and bouncing all over the place on the Fast Amersham - my boys don't believe me when I tell them how it was...!
@philmcnulty I didn't see wild celebrations in the stands or on the pitch. I saw Porro face down on the pitch for ages quite clearly overcome with it all. And in the North Upper I saw a lot of people like me who were just plain relieved it was all over and we'd stayed up.
@RKTweets That's very odd, I am sure I read columns written by her in the dim & distant past in which she claimed she was one of them.... Still, awful writing regardless...
@kevhillsy Think that was Everton at the end of the 1991/92 season. Lineker got one too iirc. I think they were leaving gifts as it was known they were both leaving at the end of the season.
@DanNeidle Probably a waste of time as people will still keep asking without having read the article...! The only thing that I was wondering was whether it might be more accurately characterised as a payment for services rendered, though I suspect that would be very difficult to prove...
