@TheMisterWil @TimothyLyle Yes! We maintain electronics just to keep them functioning. But living pets exercise our empathy; we care about how they feel #icdigital

[Madeleine J Bennett @mjbennett_1]

@c_cunninghamIII @doliveras1 They make me sad too! I see little point in owning a pet if you can't bond with it as a fellow living, emoting creature #icdigital

This YA novel comes out in spring 2018 and tackles questions about robot dogs vs. real dogs! How timely! #icdigital https://t.co/npwWxsksNB

On the one hand I like endings where the loose ends are tied up. On the other hand the end of ITYT felt super preachy #icdigital

[Madeleine J Bennett @mjbennett_1]

@fabianoallyx1 oh good point I didn't think of that. Unless you turn off your notifications it's impossible to avoid distraction #icdigital

[Madeleine J Bennett @mjbennett_1]

@KelseyMcGregor_ We have to have everything ASAP! In places where the pace of life is slower maybe they wouldn't mind the audio #icdigital

[Madeleine J Bennett @mjbennett_1]

I find myself avoiding the audio, not just b/c they talk slowly, but because I prefer the way the voices sound in my imagination #icdigital

[Madeleine J Bennett @mjbennett_1]

It's very hard to skip forward through the audio in a chapter. Are they trying to force us to listen from the beginning? #icdigital

[Madeleine J Bennett @mjbennett_1]

@TheMisterWil I mean, if it were a radio show I'd expect them to talk like we do in person; faster and with more intonation #icdigital

[Madeleine J Bennett @mjbennett_1]

@TheMisterWil Exactly, they make it sound so artistic by calling them "cast," but it sounds like a regular audiobook #icdigital

[Madeleine J Bennett @mjbennett_1]

I don't mind ebooks, but this app is just NOT user-friendly. Want to highlight, take notes, or enlarge the font? Too bad! #icdigital

[Madeleine J Bennett @mjbennett_1]

2/2 …for security. Changes in digital tech can inhibit full access to old digital fiction. Does this threaten their permanence? #icdigital

[Madeleine J Bennett @mjbennett_1]

1/2 I wondered why I wasn't hearing sound. Turns out I had to enable QuickTime, which is disabled on recent versions of mac OSX… #icdigital

[Madeleine J Bennett @mjbennett_1]

@JcwizzleCuomo I appreciate the way it connects so many ideas that I wouldn't think to connect #icdigital

[Madeleine J Bennett @mjbennett_1]

@TheMisterWil I think I'd find it easier to organize my writing if I didn't HAVE to commit to one, rigid sequence. #icdigital

[Madeleine J Bennett @mjbennett_1]

@TheMisterWil If I were the author, network fiction might even feel more liberating than writing a postmodern novel (3/2) #icdigital

[Madeleine J Bennett @mjbennett_1]

@TheMisterWil With network fiction that ordering of vignettes is more flexible and can be recombined in various orders (2/2) #icdigital

[Madeleine J Bennett @mjbennett_1]

@TheMisterWil They're very similar, but even postmodern novels have a fixed sequence and organization (1/2) #icdigital

[Madeleine J Bennett @mjbennett_1]

Jumping from link to link in These Waves of Girls makes me anxious that I'll miss something. Is uncertainty part of the point? #icdigital

[Madeleine J Bennett @mjbennett_1]

@PinkyAli13 I don't get it. I don't have Netflix so I only watch movies w/ family/ friends. Watching them alone feels weird #icdigital
