According to Eurostat’s EU labour force survey age trends show a clear shift toward labour market integration over time.

• 1 in 4 young Europeans (15 - 29) combined work with formal education (25.4%). Meanwhile, 71.4% remained outside the labour force and 3.2% were unemployed while studying.

• 15–19: Most focus on education (around 70%+ are outside the labour force).

• 20–24: Participation in work increases alongside studies.

• 25–29: Employment reaches 62.0% for women and 71.9% for men.

While women participate more in formal education, they are less likely than men to be employed or actively seeking work when not in education.
