@canonicalbrud@StrongTowns@BCorporation@CESJ_org people living paycheck to paycheck still have their livelihood denominated in USD. Big corps are actually much more insulated b/c they hold non USD assets.
@canonicalbrud@StrongTowns@BCorporation@CESJ_org yes, but the immediate effect of announcing $7K in credit to every citizen would be to halve the value of the USD in everyone's bank account. Hence the interesting part of the policy is how you avoid that effect.
@Muck_Cash I would argue that this is most similar to futures contracts in modern finance. One notable difference is that futures are denominated in a fiat currency rather than another commodity like gold, whose value is influenced by demand for the commodity itself.
@canonicalbrud@StrongTowns@BCorporation@CESJ_org You need to address the initial conditions not just steady state. 7k per citizen is 2.1T per year; more than all US currency in circulation. (Your alt currency is actually more plausable)
@canonicalbrud FWIW, @StrongTowns is pretty good at translating its ideals in to policy. @BCorporation is pretty concrete too, although the values side of the equation is pretty fuzzy. I find @CESJ_org to be extremely vague on policy though.
@canonicalbrud Sure, that's what capitalists, communists and everyone else will tell you they want too. The differences are all in the policies used to implement it. That's why I press you for policies.
@myrrlyn Agree with the broader point about training machines, but this is a bad example to make it with. A human given the same photo w/o other context would probably do similar. The reader of the tweet has to bring in a lot more context to understand the significance.
@zaoelpis I object to the characterization "setting ourselves up as arbiter over the lives of others", but I also suspect that we're reaching the point where Twitter lacks sufficient BW for meaningful clarification.
@zaoelpis @canonicalbrud There are subtleties here, b/c the Bible lays out more of a virtue ethics than a Kantian imperative or a utility function.
A DNR request differs from euthanasia request b/c the former can be accepting God's sovereignty. (not claiming DNR always is though)
@zaoelpis @canonicalbrud It's this effort to control our own destiny, rather than to turn to God for redemption of our lives that have been broken by sin that Christianity identifies as wrong and thus something we can't encourage or assist in.
