The EU Initiative from #StopKillingGames is now over 2/3 of the required signatures! 677k at the typing of this post. Let's make history!
Can you think of someone who hasn't signed yet? Show them this link: https://t.co/Dq19OIYITu
Everbody you know signed already? Tell them to spread the link!
First Kickstarter I've been excited about for a while! Interviews with 32 C64 game devs including some of the earliest, like the HAL Laboratory guys. I've disassembled a lot of their code over the years, so I feel like I know them!

Unveiled a new video for #Earthion featuring a sneak peek of new stages and music (with the new YKGGG logo sound!) to kick off Bitsummit in Kyoto, Japan. Swing by the SUPERDELUXE GAMES @sdxgames booth to see Earthion's attract mode running on a real Megadrive hooked up to a CRT!
Geoff Follin, composer of many great 8bit & 16bit video game soundtracks has passed away.
RIP to a legend, his legacy is amazing. https://t.co/HWfivaHIKy
Sega Genesis Blast Processing MAXED OUT ???
Whats better than 660 sprites in 660 colors (prev demo) ???
1013 sprites in 1013 colors !!!
Demo starts at 117 sprites then adds 20 sprites per second every second until it reaches Max Blast Processing at ~ 46 seconds mark.
Live Sprite/Color Counter top left , updates periodically.
Thanks to @Carsten1349 for amazing artwork and @laurent_crouzet for pumping audio (a Lufthoheit team collaboration) - appreciate your support guys !!
Snippets:
18 Hardware sprites multiplexed 56x each (max level) = 1008 sprites + 5 player ships = 1013.
4-5 colors changed by DMA every scanline.
Repositioning 4.5 sprites every scanline - this is VDP maximum level for X&Y (more sprites onscreen with color change is not possible unless I find a miracle).
Ran out of total palette colors near mid screen, Shadow & Highlight mode enabled to shadow more colors from that point.
Shown on Hardware MD 1 VA 6 + PVM.
Coding was a REAL headache, it uses ~ 97% of the cpu/dma time and timing is very tight.
Took 3 days alone just to get the music to play - PCM was taking up too much cpu (little cpu to spare). XGM2 sound driver helped & lowered cpu cost, thanks @MegadriveDev
Sprites are moved independently at 18 different speeds and their distribution was tricky.
Background Planes A & B used for spinning Galaxies.

The PiDP-10 is done! The first 50 will be shipped next week. And soon, living rooms everywhere will be flooded with useful 1960s mainframes ;-)
To celebrate (it took 7 years), we also launched a new overview website for our computer replicas:

Met trots en plezier maken we bekend dat Inge Bryan onze nieuwe bestuursvoorzitter is! Ze neemt deze rol over van @AstridOosenbrug, die de voorzittershamer neerlegt om zich meer te gaan richten op de ontwikkeling van @DIVDAcademy https://t.co/DZajz0T9lU
I want to give a special shout-out to @AstridOosenbrug for being one of the reasons I can do what I do here in The #Netherlands
She kickstarted the political climate where security researchers are applauded instead of prosecuted and now leads @DIVDAcademy. Legend. ❤️
Hiervan brak toch even onze klomp.
🫤 Er is een mega bekritiseerd wetsvoorstel dat de vertrouwelijkheid van onze communicatie zou ondermijnen.
🫨 De EU maakt daar reclame voor.

Hallo hè.
Help!
Trying to determine the access speed for ROM cartridges on the #Sega#Megadrive#Genesis. Kinda hard if you only have one cartridge (Sonic), but that's what I have to work with now.
The CE line for ROM does not go low (active) is AS is not low, meaning, I can only see 68000 accesses. However, the not-so-confidential-any-more 120-page "Sega Technical Overview 1.00" document clearly says that DMA from ROM to RAM is possible. It seems like Sonic is not making use of that DMA mode.
This logic analyzer shot shows a DMA burst that happens during VBlank: I see OE cycling, but CE is high, so this is most likely a RAM-to-RAM transfer, or a RAM-fill burst.
Is there a game or scene demo that I can write to a ROM-only cart that makes use of ROM-to-RAM DMA transfers? I have PCBs coming in that will let me make 2MByte ROM-only carts, and "the right binary" would be highly appreciated.
We hebben Fox-IT gevraagd om forensisch onderzoek te verrichten in onze systemen. Dit naar aanleiding van de aanhouding van een van de vrijwilligers op verdenking van cybercriminaliteit.
