Silverio Villegas González. A 38-year-old father fatally shot by an ICE agent near Chicago. Illinois State Police later opened an investigation into the shooting.

Keith Porter Jr. A 43-year-old father of two fatally shot by an off-duty ICE officer in Los Angeles. His family is still demanding accountability.

Alex Pretti. Fatally shot by Border Patrol agents in Minneapolis.

And then there are the people who never made it out of ICE detention alive.

More than 50 people have died in ICE custody since Trump returned to office. Reuters found the death rate in ICE detention more than doubled under Trump.

These aren't statistics.
They were mothers. Fathers. Sons. Daughters. Human beings.

You can debate immigration.
You can debate border policy.
You can debate ICE.

But no immigration policy should require Americans to become numb to human beings being killed.

A government with this much power must also have accountability.
Their lives mattered.
Their deaths matter.
And America should demand answers.
