@heif Scott - I know you are more interested in the community and social aspects, but this post delves a little more into the Methodist theological aspects, and how, it might be related to the splintering in United Methodist re LGBTQ inclusion. https://t.co/FhZUtRqvVF
@EJsportsKristi Glad I stopped by during a quick trip back this summer. Sorry to see it go. That whole area has changed so much, which, I know is inevitable, but still disappointing.
@chick_in_kiev (Hopefully not "mansplaining"), but the typical evangelical response would be to cite Acts chapter 10 where Peter has a dream about eating unclean foods. The lesson the pull from this is all the food laws are now nullified.
@EJsportsKristi Know I’m a hypocrite, because I haven’t attended many high school football games in my life, but if you are going to watch football on a Friday night, I think I’d choose the live game, supporting the local kids, rather than a college game on TV.
@newsmanone Commit to putting relationships ahead of righteousness. (Note - clear exception for cases of physical or emotional abuse or toxic relationships). But at the same time I think social media keeps us living in an artificial past - why do I feel the need to know
@newsmanone Love this post - even as I wrestle with the points you raise. On one hand, I just want to scream, why can’t we offer each other a little more grace? We all say or do really dumb stuff - which these new forms of communication seem to only amplify - let’s forgive, before we block
@DrewBMcIntyre I get your point, but on the other end I think we also err on the side of “cheap grace” where the carefully crafted PR statement that looks like an apology, but is really a justification or “sorry I got caught” is offered. Then we get distracted and life moves on for all.
@kevinozar Would u go back to Google Class if you could? I do IT support for a nonprofit & we are trying to figure out a LMS for adults - I think Google might be better for the sake of simplicity, but I’m sure the “powers that be” will be drawn to Canvass features even if they aren’t used.
@hacks4pancakes Wondering if there would be a way to get smaller groups (10 or less) together in an open space like a park. Couldn’t do sparing, but could still practice patterns? (Maybe depending of the form?)
@umjeremy Of course, if they wanted to be evil they could schedule it for Jan/Feb in Minneapolis - delegates from the US south and Africa could get a rude awakening as just just how cold the north gets.
@KateSherrod@GreatDismal Already finished “Agency” and just revisited “The Periphal” (audiobooks + long commute). I can barely listen to the news anymore without thinking, “Jackpot”.
Been to a lot of swim meets in my life, swam a lot of races... never heard of a 200 Individual Relay before today, not even sure how that would work. https://t.co/BsMGiOTmwB
Somewhere, amid the darkness, a painter measures a blank canvas, a poet tests a line aloud, a songwriter brings a melody into tune. Art inspires, provokes thought, reflects beauty and pain. I seek it out even more in these times. And in so doing, I find hope in the human spirit.
