The Suffolk County PBA mourns the tragic loss of Patrolman Andrew Duarte, who was shot and killed while responding to an active shooter at UPMC Memorial Hospital in York earlier today.

Patrolman Duarte dedicated over seven years to protecting his communities, serving with the West York Borough Police Department and previously with the Denver Police Department in Pennsylvania. His bravery and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Our thoughts are with his family, loved ones, and fellow officers during this devastating time. Rest in peace, brother.

How many of you remember Frankie from Des Moines, IA? She’s an OG of the program! She signed up in 2017 and completed the 50 Yard Challenge in 2018. Frankie was also the very first young lady to receive a Raising Women shirt—she’s one of the reason we added “Raising Women” to the name!

In the early days, only young men were joining the program. Then along came Frankie—determined to mow and make a difference. Anything he can mow , she can mow better .She became the first solo female to complete the challenge and proudly wore the first Raising Women shirt.

Launching Raising Women was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. After Frankie paved the way, countless young ladies stepped up, showing that service and kindness have no boundaries.

Her mom said “ Frankie will be 18 in just a few weeks and is graduating from high school this spring. She keeps busy with school and her part-time job and continues to volunteer through her school volunteer program. She still mows for her very first client - Miss Connie. This fall she’ll be attending Drake University and is interested in pursuing a degree in environmental science. “
