Very pleased to say my latest mag-editing project - the Drucker Forum Special Report 2020 for @InstituteLM & @GDruckerForum - is out as an online PDF. This is my 4th year at the helm of the Report & I'm really proud of what we've put together. https://t.co/9zFxLBEvFx via @issuu
@metaplexmovies It's criminally under-discussed how the film has genuinely powerful and often raw emotional beats that cut through the satire and give it a bitter, mirthless tang. Murphy's execution is breathtakingly shocking and the following ER surgery montage is almost operatically harrowing.
@shinjukutheif1@5goalthriller Damn, that must've been fantastic. Never seen 'em live, but listen to the albums loads & love the concert film they made during the reunion. A staggering outfit - musically, they played as if with one mind, with the background interpersonal friction fuelling their unique energy.
@CoolsomeXD It wasn't so much a case of didn't like as didn't show up. Eclipsed by the hype around Batman and Last Crusade, L2K sadly had trouble drumming up a decent turnout.
@DoctorWhoWorld_ State of Decay, when I was 5. Completely freaked me out. Instantly hooked. Parents ended up getting me the Pickwick audio version read by Tom Baker. Listened to it a thousand times.
@BenRogers As someone who also rewatched CE3K before DD, I believe very strongly that that was the worst possible preparation. DD is like an inversion of everything that CE3K gets so impeccably right - particularly when it comes to the final stretch.
@bornposting That started with 13 in a big, big way. Absolutely a Beeb-sanctioned exercise in ditching a host of abrasive, irascible traits to make the Doc more palatable.
@FZscene I've revisited a bunch of his Moffat-scripted eps from S5 & 6 over the past few days to rally from last week's news & it's struck me all over again how utterly electrifying he was. Matt & Moff were a *sensational* match. Still can't believe Matt was only 26 when cast. Prodigious.
@aliensexpanded Theatrical all the way. Much tighter & more intense, and the way we meet Newt through Ripley's eyes and share in R's shock that the girl has been able to survive is *far* better than Newt being set up in advance, which effectively plot-armors her. The stakes are still 100% clear.
@DanaldTrump@OliverJia1014 It is SO funny, and shot through with a sort of avuncular warmth -much of it coming from Michael Hordern's sardonic narration - that can't be found anywhere else in Kubrick's canon.
@TSoS_ That line and its lack of subsequent payoff / resolution were massive middle fingers to the audience's intelligence.
JJ's middle fingers, to be precise.
