Should you turn your central heating off or just your radiators during summer?

☀️ A combination boiler should allow you to change the setting to allow hot water but no heating.
☀️ Or you can choose to turn off radiators individually.

Preventing a boiler breakdown while your heating is off during the summer is easy...
☀️ Turn on your heating once a month for a few minutes until the radiators begin to warm up.
☀️ Doing this will prevent the pump and diverter valve from seizing up.

Turning off your boiler completely can be a great way to save money on your heating bills, if it's possible to do.

☀️ An electric shower would make it more possible.
☀️ Modern washing machines and dishwashers also typically provide their own heat.

Why if you're thinking about replacing your boiler you should book it in now...

☀️ You're less likely to need the boiler while it is being replaced, except for warm water (unless you have an electric shower).
☀️ There is much less demand for heating engineers in summer.
