Has anyone discovered that some of the earliest manuscripts included the Apostle Paul saying, “love does not eat an apple while in the passenger seat”?
I feel like we should look into this.
Thank you to all the brave men and women who have served our nation with courage, honor, and sacrifice. We are deeply grateful for your commitment to protecting our freedom.
Just watched a couple videos by an Atheist attempting to disprove Christianity. He took verses out of context, relied on faulty exegesis, and operated with numerous false assumptions. But… he actually did a superb job of exposing big flaws in popular, broad-Evangelical theology. It’s sad that he will likely lead some Christians to deny the faith. But, I dare say he’ll likely push others to embrace biblical/Reformed theology.
It was profoundly bittersweet this morning after worship when a first time visitor said, “That was the first time I’ve said the Apostles Creed in probably 20 years!”
Pastoral ministry involves helping people address their (true) guilt. But, it also involves helping people find relief from false guilt. Legalism (which is rampant in American evangelicalism) has smothered many souls under the weight of unbiblical expectations. The gospel sets people free from both true and false guilt.
Preaching about, and therefore studying, what the Bible says about the New Heavens and New Earth is profoundly life-giving. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Highly recommended; would definitely do it again.
May Day is a good day to remember Communist regimes were responsible for more deaths during the 20th century (100 million) than all wars fought before the 20th century (80 million). Ideas have consequences.
I don’t remember which one flipped the switch; maybe all of them together.
1. The unity of the Scriptures (2Tim.3)
2. “You & your children” (Gen.17;Acts2)
3. Clear inclusion in the OT (Deut. 6)
4. No clear change in the NT { }
5. Jesus blessed them (Mark 10)
6. Paul instructs them (Col.3)
7. God makes promises to them (Eph.6)
8. Paul calls them holy (1Cor7)
9. Mentioned with the New Cov. (Jer.32)
10. Household baptisms (Acts 16)
Humility is necessary to know God because you need to be humble to reject your own ideas about Him. As Bavinck says, “All that we know of God is derived from revelation.” In other words, if God didn’t reveal what He is like (in the Bible), we’d never know.
While Jesus was on the cross, the mockers’ message to Him matched the message of the world, the flesh, and the devil, to all of humanity, throughout all time.
It’s the message of modern culture, the message of every religion, philosophy and worldview; and it’s the message that keeps the world in a perpetual state of strife and sadness:
“Save yourself!” (Mark 15:30)
He rejected that message. So should you. Entrust yourself to God.
