Today I'm getting really tired of seeing fast AI PoCs with unsubstantiated glamorous claims attached to them. These bros don't have to bear any of the responsibility of development and they are only distracting from the real work. I can see why AI is hindering project delivery.
We released our fourth 4k in a row at Revision 2024. Reached 15th place. While the placement is a bit of a bummer, the compo was very tough and there were lot's of high quality entries. Check the thing at https://t.co/96N49rvRW2
I took part in the Lovebyte'24 combined 256b intro competition with "Computer Fantasies". Intro features four effect which are implemented using a tiny interpreter/VM included in the intro. 57 bytes spent for effects and 199 for the interpreter https://t.co/sGtPA5y2q2
We lost a titan of programming languages, programming methodology, software engineering and hardware design. Niklaus Wirth passed away on the first of January. We mourn a pioneer, colleague, mentor and friend.
Let us reminisce the times it was possible to create @Vaadin UIs from pictures without any artificial intelligence. To be honest, this technique is a bit prone to error and it takes many tries to get a proper capture. It is still available at https://t.co/MjA9clwKzM
What does it take to create your first @Vaadin UI? How about a phone, a pen and a piece of paper? Here's Napkin, an experiment in creation of Vaadin UIs from sketches. Try it out yourself https://t.co/cDRgbHhS70 and see the source as usual https://t.co/3pnL3MQtks #WebComponents
Damage and myself released our third 4k in a row. Reached 7th place at Assembly 2023. Check out our intro "Terror from the Deep" at youtube https://t.co/o8Ipk2OS5W or go give it a proper bashing at pouet https://t.co/iNYv4JzEeP SW rendering in JS, music done using SoundBox
I haven't worked at Vaadin for almost two years now, but I'm still occasionally hearing about some of my experiments being described as some cool upcoming thing. For example this Figma export prototype I wrote. There has not been any work done on it.

It is possible to use GUI Builder to edit @hillaframework Lit templates. Some restrictions apply, for example nested templates are not supported at the moment. But the hello world and about views are editable. I'll see about those restrictions and React templates support later.
Seeing that some people might need a free visual designer for #Vaadin Flow, I can tell you that there is one at https://t.co/aFZvLAoavf that is free and open source under the MIT license. Go to https://t.co/UUfL5cGA8k for the sources.
Considering how little time I have to work on GUI Builder, I think the best thing to do now is to open source it. This will provide a free option for visual editing of @Vaadin applications, open up the possibility for external contributions and allow private installations
Or whatever I will call it when its out. Previously it was sketch mode. It is a very fast way to make a #Vaadin UI layout with automatic flexbox layout generation. Check the video to see how it works https://t.co/2VyNmi2CnV
Resuming work on GUI Builder! Added a small improvement to cut and paste that allows pasting HTML in and out of the app. My development process is much leaner this time around, so youcan expect more updates in coming weeks. Probably working on the wireframe tool next.
Spent some time last week building an app with Hilla, React, Redux, Formik, and Vaadin React components to get an idea of the overall experience. Some observations in the thread 👇
