✍️ Mark Shelton ➡️ #YCFC

I’ve spoken about my thoughts on this signing for the Champions when Shelton first joined York from Barnet… It displays intent, a willingness to continue in the same positive, progressive light that they have shown repeatedly under Maynard.

Shelton has proven himself @ the level previously, especially last season w/ Barnet where he displayed a valuable effectiveness as a box-crashing midfielder useful in & around the penalty area. Technically sublime, making up for a lack of physical attributes & athleticism.

His intelligence in his movement + timing within the final third allows him to be a step ahead of the opposition.

Maynard has the option to either use Shelton in one of the wide #10 roles in City’s 3-4-2-1, or as the more forward-thinking, progressive midfield roles, within the pivot.
