I ignored my mom's calls because I was in a meeting.
She called six times in a row.
By the third call, my heart was racing.
By the sixth, I was convinced someone in the family had died.
The second the meeting ended, I ran outside and called her back.
She answered on the first ring.
I could barely get the words out.
"Mom... what's wrong?"
Of the million brilliant scenes in Padayappa, this stands out - not for the Superstar elevation but because of the one who’s delivering the words. Absolute G.O.A.T Lakshmi.

Woke up to the sound of suprabhata in Basavanagudi. Walked past Dodda Ganapati, grabbed masala dose at Vidyarthi Bhavan, and life feels perfect again. This is my Bengaluru

"Are you traveling to Udaipur?" the girl sitting next to my berth asked. I didn’t know her. I've been on countless train journeys, but never did I imagine a girl initiating a conversation, she reminds me of the geet character from an indian movie “Jab we met”. In those few seconds before I replied, my mind conjured flashbacks of memes, movies featuring chance encounters in trains leading to love. She must be in her early twenties, with hair highlighted in blue (without a nose ring). A perfect blend of Gen Z and old-school charm, donning a pink kurti and blue jeans. Beautiful jhumkas adorned her ears, She was radiating a delightful fragrance, even though she was seated across from me; made me question the authenticity of the expensive perfume my uncle got from his Dubai trip last year.
In my mind i asked myself, "is she for real?" and replied, "Hey, yes, I'm traveling to Udaipur. What about you?" She smiled, revealing a cute dimple on her right cheek, and shared that Udaipur is her hometown. I got a call from one of my old school friend with whom i am just connected on instagram. He was traveling with his girlfriend to Kashmir. They had a near-fatal accident last year. They decided to fulfill their wishlist after recovery, and after i picked up he said i accidentally called you. The conversation took an unexpected turn as he invited me to Jaipur to join him next month when he and his family are planning to come jaipur to meet the parents of his girlfriend for their impending marriage. I felt delighted and blessed. As the call ended with "Meet you soon, brother," i realised the girl's interest in our conversation waned. She plugged in her wired earphones and started watching the "Before Sunrise" trilogy.
Took me more courage than courage the cowardly dog and i asked her “hey can you tell me about places to visit in Udaipur” although i have the itinerary my friend shared with my last night, i could’ve asked something else i told myself. She paused the movie, removing her earphones and putting them into this cute rose-pink bag of hers. I reassured her, "It's okay, you can watch the movie; it's a good one." ( but i was also hoping to kickstart the dead conversation). She shared some must-visit underrated and less explored places, and our conversation regained momentum. Despite my upper berth seat, I occupied a lower berth due to available space. At the next station, a new face entered—a man in his thirties with long hair, wearing a thick gold chain, and a familiar blue blazer. He reminded me of my very first gym trainer from 2020. The unexpected question came: "Are you planning to sleep? If not, can I take the upper berth?" I agreed, and as I turned off the lights, the girl asked about my plans after the last semester. Sarcastically, I replied, "Stop being that nosy relative," and she giggled. Her smile became a cherished memory, like the luggage I'd take back when returning home from Udaipur.
The TT entered, creating a brief nervous moment. When asked for my ticket, he paused, indicating a possible issue. The tablet malfunctioned, adding suspense. When he suspected I was in the wrong coach, my heart skipped a beat. The person who booked my seat would join at the next station, he said. Panic set in until I realized the guy on my seat had entered the wrong coach. In a climax-like twist, he moved to his coach, and she burst into laughter, making her even more prettier than before.
Should I continue with Part 2? 😭
Maanagaram was an absolute surprise - 4/5 easily (best writing of LoKi)
Kaithi - still remember the banger of a cinema experience I had - 4/5
Master - unique and brought out a never-before-seen Vijay - 3.5/5
Vikram could have just been written better - 3.5/5
Prior to #KannathilMuththamittaal, we might not have associated #Simran with a character like Indira Thiruchelvan.
But after seeing a career-defining performance, it is impossible to think of anyone else.
Simran is Indira.
Indira is Simran.
Murmurs about a film on the Cholas this week? And a film by Selvaraghavan? Did the forces combine to give an allegory on Eelam Tamils & civil war? Listen to @gradwolf@NadjaNadika@ABVan and @sudhirsrinivasn on Aayirathil Oruvan

I guess it’s true then. There’s a time when you despise the #MumbaiMonsoon but at one point, when the sun comes out, you actually start missing them. I think I’m gonna reach that point very very soon! #SPJIMRPGDM22
