We proudly celebrate Mr. Aime Fidele Ndayishimiye on the successful defence of his Doctor of Laws thesis. As an institution, we extend our heartfelt congratulations and commend him for his resilience and dedication, especially as a regional student. We also sincerely appreciate @RIFMakerere and the Government of Uganda for their invaluable support and funding throughout his academic journey.
In his study, Aime examines how the East African Court of Justice (EACJ) can be effectively activated as a viable forum to address these structural and institutional deficiencies and problematic practices.
Aime’s research is driven by the widespread human rights violations, poor human rights practices, blatant impunity, and the abuse of state sovereignty in the context of CPR (Civil and Political Rights) violations.
I acknowledge that many companies are already producing from the school, adding value to our food, and creating jobs for our community. However, I believe there is still significant potential for us to do even more. ~ @ProfNawangwe

Mr. Ndayishimiye argues that, although human rights are recognized as fundamental principles of the ECJ, the current legal framework lacks explicit provisions establishing the court’s human rights jurisdiction. Consequently, the ECJ has been unable to effectively address the widespread human rights violations and impunity that are prevalent in many East African Community partner states.
In his study, Mr. Aimé conducts a comprehensive analysis of the legal and regulatory framework of the East African Court of Justice (EACJ). He investigates the key factors influencing the court's effectiveness in safeguarding civil and political rights. Additionally, he explores comparative legal and institutional reforms aimed at enhancing the EACJ’s capacity to effectively adjudicate civil and political rights, proposing strategic improvements to strengthen its role and effectiveness.
