Just finished reading “Nickle & Dimed” by Barbara Ehrenreich. It’s about the working poor in America. Written over 20 years ago and heart-breaking because it’s all so true today. I will try to be kinder thanks to Barbara. RIP
@Sassafrass_84 You understand that some behavior is caused by illness and what you do about it is based on that understanding. A free pass and return to society, probably not. The best answer relies on the intelligence and competence of the community.
@ComicDaveSmith@an_capitalist Surprisingly silly. Capitalism and Dem Socialism both share human nature problems. No system works without intelligent, ethical, courageous leaders. Solve that problem, please.
@MarioNawfal I agree with the sentiment of this post but I wonder about the details. This wasn’t done in one day. Were there warnings? Reasons? So a guy does this work and surprise he’s going to jail. That would be awful.
@lisapease No. The answer lies in getting money out of regulatory oversight. I worked in the medical device industry and saw many bad decisions made with good intentions. Then the FDA bows to industry and mistakes get approved.
@DropSiteNews The President of Cuba was impressive. The reporter from Meet the Press was a disgrace to her profession and really just a failure as a human being.
@SenWarren Why aren’t you denouncing the war in Iran? I try to trust your ethics but you ignore the crimes our nation is committing. Even while you are one of the few voices with responsibility for our nation’s path. Please find your backbone.
@RightNUFC Nature walks without my phone!
Live music in a small venue, finishing a jigsaw puzzle, every chance I get to actually help makes me feel better.
@ComicDaveSmith@TulsiGabbard I don’t understand “resign in protest”. Speak up, in office, tell the truth and be heard. This war is a colossal tragedy for the world. The stakes are too high for political politeness. Tulsi was appointed to serve the US, not DJT.
@TheChiefNerd The problem of wealth accumulation subsidized by a working class majority has to be admitted and corrected. I prefer elimination of loopholes and corporate welfare over income taxes. But refusing not to understand this problem won’t make it go away.
I have no problem dealing with other people having different beliefs from me. That's as normal as air.
What I have zero patience for is the people who lie and mischaracterize other people's beliefs to defend their own.
Having bad ideas is inevitable. Bad character isn't.
@rutgerbregman@PatrioticMills Point 2 about how much is enough is important. It gets listed but never really defined.
Do you have any suggestions?
Also, I prefer tax code changes that prevent wealth accumulation over taxes that take wealth back after it has been acquired.
