Interest in the community has been substantial. Robyn is said to have obtained over five hundred inquiries for the limited fourteen available positions.

She might have devoted her entire retirement nest egg exclusively to her own needs. Instead, she directed a portion of those savings toward creating an asset that many seniors value as highly as shelter itself: a neighborhood in which no individual is required to grow old in isolation.

BREAKING: PURE EVIL! Trump gets caught secretly rounding up thousands of beautiful wild horses and selling them off to be slaughtered in cold blood.

“The [Bureau of Land Management] is saying to the public that slaughter is off the table, but they’re doing it in plain sight. They are turning a blind eye," Clare Staples, the head of a wild horse sanctuary, told The New York Times. "And the only ones getting punished for what is going on are the horses.”

According to bombshell reporting by the Times which reviewed government records, the Bureau of Land Management has been "quietly" selling off thousands of horses private buyers. And while slaughtering those horses is patently illegal, there is a "loophole" that allows purchasers to "get mustangs on the cheap" and then "quickly resell them to be exported alive, processed into cuts of meat and sold abroad" through middlemen.

In other words, the administration is violating the spirit of the law in order to remove the horses, which had been previously rounded up to control wild populations and held safely on feed lots. The government was supposed to find them "loving homes." Instead, it's sending them off to be killed and devoured.

The economics at play here are brutal. It costs the government roughly $3,500 to capture a mustang. But they're then being sold for as little as $25 to buyers, who can then sell them for as much as $750 to slaughterhouses.

"By selling mustangs at a huge loss, animal welfare organizations say, the agency in charge of protecting wild horses is, instead, subsidizing their destruction," Dave Philipps wrote in the Times.

So the question here becomes, of course, why is Trump doing this? As usual, it boils down to tax cuts for the rich. It costs the federal government roughly $100 million annually to store approximately 58,000 wild horses in the "holding system." If the administration can get that number down and lower costs, that frees up federal funding that can then be funneled into tax cuts for oligarchs and corporations.

If that equation makes little sense to you, you're not alone. The Republican Party views all government costs as fungible. Any dollar spent on anything other than tax cuts is a wasted dollar to them. It's the same logic that drives them to slash Medicare, gut social services, abandon infrastructure projects. The only things they like spending money on outside of tax cuts are bombs to be dropped on women and children overseas.
