HAPPENING!!!!!
CELEBRATING INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR BIODIVERSITY 2026.
NEMA and stakeholders have joined today in commemorating the International Day for Biodiversity (IDB) in Bukiende Sub-county in Mbale District.
The day was ushered into by planting of Prunus Africana an indigenous tree specie with immense health benefits.
The Mt. Elgon landscape is of critical importance due to its landscape, farming practices and landslides proneness.
The day is being celebrated under the theme: “Acting locally to restore degraded ecosystems”.
Locals have been urged to protect the restored ecosystems for their greater good.
Appreciations to community members, Towerco for African, @theGEF and local authorities.
This evening at State Lodge, Nakasero, I received and held discussions with a delegation led by the former President of South Africa, H.E. Jacob Zuma, who paid me a courtesy call.
Our discussions touched on opportunities for increased business and investment cooperation, particularly in strategic sectors that support industrialisation and value addition. I welcomed their interest. We shall support them.
Together, we’re building sustainability through community sensitization, leadership involvement, and incentive schemes.
We look forward to a greener, stronger environment as we commemorate International Day for Diversity 2026.

#Grateful to God and the calm competency and professionalism of Capt. Tonny Tebajanga of @UG_Airlines. In a freak incident mid-air shortly after we left Johannesburg, one half of the windscreen of the plane shattered. @tebsbalis quietly and steadily held the situation even though some of us could tell things were not right, and flew us back to Johannesburg.
very special thanks to Alliance Francaise making this World Music Day possible, here and around the world! Let’s celebrate the future of Ugandan music—right now!
