The lack of juror diversity in criminal & civil trials is a major injustice. This is a must-read by @JustMrPhillips on legislation designed to mitigate the problem. See the next tweet for a toolkit with easy ways to help it pass Newsom’s desk without veto https://t.co/yXkWzn4RGd
📢Must read by @JustMrPhillips. Bottom line: @GavinNewsom must sign #AB881 (@PhilTing) asap "if he’s serious about addressing the problems that disproportionately affect people of color in California." https://t.co/dK9I8rzuKE

Join us for a sneak preview of “Judging Juries” + panel re: our collective push for @GavinNewsom to sign #AB881 to expand our successful 'Be The Jury' pilot to 4 more counties. Paying jurors $100/day seats diverse juries that better reflect the community.

Solidarity to partners fighting for labor and trans rights who also felt the bitter sting of @GavinNewsom's vanity and political ambitions prioritized over the safety & dignity of our working class, trans, and immigrant communities. @eqca@CaliforniaLabor
.@GavinNewsom vetoed the #HOMEAct despite majority support & no org opposition. The bill addressed the cruel double punishment of immigrant communities.
@SenToniAtkins@CASpeakerRivas, incoming Pro Tem @ilike_mike thx for your support for #AB1306
It’s time for a veto override.
@GavinNewsom's veto of the #HOMEAct, which would have simply ensured that a small set of reforms applies equally to immigrants, is 🤡 behavior from a former 🤡 mayor who spearheaded a policy turning over immigrant children to ICE.
Today’s veto can only be seen in the context of the Governor’s past harmful actions, including separating children from their families for deportation during his tenure as San Francisco Mayor. 5/
We are outraged by @GavinNewsom's veto of the #HOMEAct, AB 1306 by @AsmCarrillo!
The Governor's decision is cruel, callous, and cowardly.
When policy-making is driven by vanity and crass ambition rather than sound judgment, all Californians suffer.

The #HOMEact is headed to the Governor's desk! 🎉Directly affected leaders have requested a meeting with Gov. @GavinNewsom. They are executive directors, organizers, and re-entry workers. Can we count on the Governor to listen to community voices and pass the #HOMEact?
Tying immigration enforcement to criminal convictions has a sordid, racist history. The US’s 1st deportation laws were rooted in anti-Asian racism
The #HOMEAct is an impt step toward ending CA's complicity in this racist legacy. More on what that means⬇️https://t.co/IxWpMIndMN
