“Language can become a screen which stands between the thinker and reality. This is the reason why true creativity often starts where language ends.”

@ArthurMacwaters It's not the judges fault. It's the prison system's fault. Their emphasis is on isolation and humiliation instead of rehabilitation. In countries like Sweden where rehabilitation is emphasized, the recidivism rate is way low.
@DrOzCMS The biggest Medicare fraud scheme in this country is MyChart by Epic. Almost all Medicare patients and taxpayers have been victims of this scam.
I am a retired ER physician and I'm now on the other side of the stethoscope. I consider myself a patient advocate.

Climate scientist Anika Sweetland says she went from full-blown climate advocate to climate skeptic — because once she actually looked at what governments do versus what they claim to believe, the story fell apart.
She describes what she was taught at university as straight-up apocalypse training:
𝘞𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘪𝘥𝘥𝘭𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘴𝘪𝘹𝘵𝘩 𝘮𝘢𝘴𝘴 𝘦𝘹𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘵. 𝘌𝘤𝘰𝘴𝘺𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘴 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘨𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘱𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨. 𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦’𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘧𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘧𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴.
And she says it messed with her head like it would mess with anybody’s head:
𝘐 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘭𝘪𝘦 𝘢𝘸𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘢𝘵 𝘯𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘵𝘳𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘧𝘪𝘨𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘣𝘦 𝘴𝘢𝘧𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝟸𝟶 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘥𝘶𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘦𝘢 𝘭𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘭 𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘦.
Then came the moment that made her stop and go, 𝗪𝗮𝗶𝘁… 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁?
She’s working on “net zero” strategy and realizes: if leaders truly believed a catastrophe was coming, they’d be acting like it’s an actual emergency — shoring up food and energy security.
Instead, she says net zero does the opposite. That’s when the penny dropped.
𝘐 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘻𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘨𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘣𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘢 𝘤𝘭𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘱𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘣𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘦. 𝘉𝘶𝘵 𝘯𝘦𝘵 𝘻𝘦𝘳𝘰 𝘪𝘴 𝘥𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘵𝘦 𝘰𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘦.
Then she hits the forbidden topic: 𝗖𝗢₂.
And she says she was taught to treat it like poison — until she started looking at it like a scientist again.
𝘊𝘢𝘳𝘣𝘰𝘯 𝘥𝘪𝘰𝘹𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘦𝘵. 𝘐𝘵’𝘴 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘰𝘥.
And the part that made people’s ears perk up: she claims there’s a “saturation point” where adding more CO₂ doesn’t keep trapping meaningful additional heat — and that we’re already near it.
𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘢 𝘭𝘪𝘮𝘪𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘮𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘣𝘦 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘥 𝘣𝘺 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘣𝘰𝘯 𝘥𝘪𝘰𝘹𝘪𝘥𝘦.
Whether you agree with every piece of her argument or not, here’s the part that matters politically: 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝗳 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 by “experts” who never seem to pay a price when the predictions don’t pan out — but you do.
And when someone who studied the field says, “Hold on… the incentives don’t match the panic,” that gets attention fast.
@ElonMusk_LordX I love New York and would not have agreed to this before. My oldest son Mickey was doing his residency at Mount Sinai hospital in Manhattan but recently changed to a Psychiatry program outside of the city. So yeah, I would. And since I am living on a disability income...
@WhiteBread8956@DrOzCMS Cindy Diamond's analogy of our current healthcare system as a slot machine is appropriate. Except that the machines are rigged to always benefit the system instead of the patients.
