Interim Head Coach of the Fiji Water Flying Fijians, Senirusi Seruvakula, has issued an earnest appeal to the Fijian rugby public, asking for patience and belief in the national squad and the coaching staff.
Seruvakula was speaking during a media conference this evening saying the team will deliver.
The coach’s plea comes in the wake of public frustration and calls from some sections of the fanbase for a coaching change.
These reactions followed two heavy, consecutive defeats on European soil during the ongoing Nations Championship tournament.
The Flying Fijians opened their campaign with a 39–24 loss to Wales at Cardiff City Stadium on July 4, 2026. A week later, on July 11, the team suffered a grueling 73–8 defeat against a ruthless England side at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Defending his squad, Seruvakula pointed out that the team has only had two weeks of training together prior to launching into a tournament against elite Tier-1 nations.
He emphasized that a multitude of rebuilding factors and short preparation windows must be fairly taken into account before judging the side's capability.

So many pple getting the score v rank confused 😬
Country score is out of 100 & country rank is out of 180 countries. Fiji has SCORE of 55/100 and RANKS 45/180. We are doing bad in relation to our corruption levels but compared to other countries we are not as corrupt #TeamFiji
