TV shows used to do 20 episodes per season with a 4 month summer hiatus. 200 episodes in 10 years. Now they battle to shoot 8 episodes with years in between seasons.
Ford fired a $200,000-a-year employee over a $1.95 cookie he paid for.
Kurt Kromm, 11 years at the Kentucky Truck Plant, felt his blood sugar drop at 3:30 a.m. He's diabetic. The kiosk flashed red on his card, so he paid at the second machine, ate the cookie, went back to building trucks.
A week later security walked him out. Wouldn't even let him take his tools.
Then he pulled up his bank statement. The $1.95 charge was sitting right there. Ford checked with the kiosk company, confirmed he paid, cut him $28,000 in back pay, and begged him to come back.
He said no. Took a job closer to home with a raise.
So the final scorecard: Ford spent $28,000, lost an 11-year veteran, and took a national PR beating to recover a cookie that was never stolen. The cookie cost $1.95. Firing the guy who bought it cost 14,000 cookies.
BOOMER: "Just buy a house. Stop renting and build equity."
ME: "Houses are $450,000."
BOOMER: "So get a mortgage."
ME: "I need a $90,000 down payment."
BOOMER: "I bought my first house with $5,000 down."
ME: "What did your house cost?"
BOOMER: "$60,000."
ME: "So you put down 8% of the price. I need to put down 20%."
BOOMER: "Well your salary should be higher."
ME: "I make $70,000 a year. Banks say I can afford a $280,000 house max."
ME: "Everything in my area costs $400,000+."
BOOMER: "You should move somewhere cheaper."
ME: "All the jobs are here. If I move, I make $35,000 and houses still cost $250,000."
BOOMER: "It's about discipline and sacrifice."
ME: "You bought a house for 3 years of salary. I need 6 years of salary."
ME: "Plus I have $50,000 in student debt you didn't have."
BOOMER: "Well I worked hard."
ME: "So do I. I'm just playing a different game with worse odds."
BOOMER: *silent*
You didn't buy a house because you were smarter. You bought it because it was actually affordable.
after the marvels "flopped" in the box office and then released on disney+, more and more people have watched it and realised it was actually a good entertaining film, and that they shouldn't have listened to the online hate campaign. I believe this is gonna happen here too
