Coming back to this post... I'm thinking that the ideas in Path need to come back in a new app.
The idea that you can only have 20-ish "friends" on the app to keep the circle tight is something I think the world could use right now.
1. What you see here is clearest illustration why things are so messed up and why it cannot get any better until this asymmetry is addressed.
Put simply: right-wing has narrative dominance.
My org (@mmfa) did this study and been sounding this alarm for years. Some thoughts...
Abraham Lincoln talked about a vision of an America with a government of, by, and for the people.
13 of Trump's nominees are billionaires.
What we have right now is a government of, by, and for the billionaire class.
We've got to fight back.
I worked at Path back in 2012. Today, I found the codebase I had on a hard drive and managed to get it building after all these years. Very broken and unusable with no servers, but I'm about to cry. Working at @path was probably the best time of my life. 🥹
This right here.
Most of what people people complain about with regards to capitalism is either A) crony capitalism, B) government interfering in free-market capitalism, or C) government regulation, allowing crony capitalism, which lobbies government to keep it in power.
It feels like so much of modern "progressive-ism" is rooted in trying to deny well instilled evolutionary instinct, and attempting to use language to contort reality to the whims of what it wants to be a truth it can not and will never be.
Honestly, until they can fix:
1. The limited range and
2. Battery charging speeds (or figure out how to do full swaps)
Doing long road trips with an EV isn't going happen anytime soon. I love the idea of EV for doing hyper-local errands, but if I'm going from Houston to even Galveston, I'm taking a gas car.
99% of cars will be electric and autonomous in the future.
Manually-driven gasoline cars will be like riding a horse while using a flip phone. Still happens, but it’s rare.
They could find success IF they would find people that love and appreciate the source material like they did for practically all of the Infinity Saga.
Now they hire people who actively don’t like comics or self insert and think they’ll be successful.
The reason the Infinity Saga worked is because while it deviated in places the essence of the source material was prevalent throughout.
