My first published book & a collaboration with a Canadian legend. Two dreams come true in one.
This is for all the kids like me who didn’t see themselves represented in their libraries - and this is for all the allies. For the friends named Zach, Raj, or Melissa.
There’s far too many people to thank, but I’d like to start with @EricRWalters for believing in me and my ability to write. I can’t even begin to express the honor it is, to not only work with you, but to have become such good friends, and learn about each others faith through writing this.
Secondly, I want to thank two teachers in highschool who have shaped so much of who I am, and inspired me to write and share my art with the world. Riley & Tosh, this wouldn’t be reality without you. To all teachers, this is what your investment looks like manifested.
I want to thank my publisher, @orcabook for their constant feedback, and also for being so open to mine. I also want to thank all of the individuals, teachers and classes that were beta readers - you all have helped shape this story.
I want to thank my agent, Hilary, and also thank Eric’s agent, Amy; as well as their respective agencies: Westwood & TLA.
And finally, I want to thank my parents. Rather, each and every immigrant parent who makes every sacrifice for their children to succeed. Though we all may not be lawyers or a doctors, our goal is to always make you proud.
Pre-order link in bio. ❤️
We lost a real one. My brother Jay Williams put his insides on the line every single time he showed up to work. He was special and we were all better because of him. @tdsb we need to honour his legacy.
Proud Principal Moment. A few grade 8 students felt that our students should be represented in posters around our school. I suggested they make some. I’m so impressed with the final product. Students were so excited to see themselves on our walls. @cb_stirling
Thank you Grad coaches for organizing the Onyx Ball. Big thanks to your admin teams for their support. What a fabulous evening. What a fabulous evening #blackjoy#onyx
In June, we commemorate Indigenous Peoples Month (National Indigenous History Month) to recognize the heritage and diversity of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples.
As we look at the history, we must work towards reconciliation through peaceful and respectful relationships.
During Pride Month, we recognize and celebrate Two Spirit & LGBTQIA+ contributions and identities, and the allies who stand in solidarity.
It's also a time of action; a time to raise awareness about the hate and violence toward Two Spirit and LGBTQIA+ people and communities.
Earlier this week, elementary and secondary students with intellectual and/or neurodevelopmental disabilities participated in HWDSB’s Access Athletics!
Taking place during National Accessibility Week, the event is designed to support access to athletics for all students.
Organic conversations about mental health, disability justice, racial equity enlightened our learning space this year. They shared their intersectional identities when they felt safe. Perhaps local media can write a story about the beautiful humanity of @CathyWeverHWDSB students.
