Every day is a good day to not be a UCP MLA from Calgary, but it's especially good when you aren't someone whose party leader has said she's written off most of your Calgary caucus colleagues because rural voters are more important to her. #ableg#abpoli#ucp#ABNDP
In less than a month, our UCP government will introduce critical legislation to ensure that children wait until adulthood before making decisions to physically alter their bodies for gender transition. We will also strengthen parental rights within our education system regarding this issue and ensure that women and girls can compete in female-only sports divisions.
While these are sensitive topics, our government believes these measures are in the best interests of children, and we will proceed with these changes without delay.
As this legislation is debated, we invite all Albertans to join the conversation. Regardless of differing opinions, we must ensure that all children identifying as transgender know they are cared for and supported.
My gratitude to the Minister of Arts, Culture, and the Status of Women for recognizing the importance of Transgender Day of Visibility, along with making an important commitment to standing with Transgender, Two Spirit, Non Binary, and Gender Diverse folks who call Alberta home.
To the Minister, will she today put her words into action and call out the misguided policies and guidelines proposed by the Premier?
Further, will this Minister recognize that should these proposed policies and guidelines come to pass they will have a devastating impact on some of the most vulnerable in neighbourhoods across Alberta, and set dangerous precedent within Canada for dismantling human rights.
Finally, to the Minister will she demonstrate bold leadership and apologize to all Transgender, Two Spirit, Non Binary, and Gender Diverse individuals within Alberta who as a direct result of her bad faith consultations have since been faced the realities of dehumanization and for the past few weeks have had to defend and debate their very existence as a result of fallacious ideology and weaponized misinformation which continues to be empowered by this government.

1. Brutal anti-trans politics in England may have met their match in an unlikely opponent... ferrets?
Members of Parliament, including some conservatives, filibustered a gender affirming care ban that would have applied to private clinics in the country pushed by Liz Truss.
Today is #PinkShirtDay across Canada, and it has never been more important to stand up to #bullying in our neighbourhoods, and call out those like Premier @ABDanielleSmith along with @PierrePoilievre who bully and attack our most vulnerable youth by way of proposing misguided policies and guidelines, seeking to arbitrarily dismantle the human rights of our equity deserving neighbours and erase them from our neighbourhoods - we must be bold and active allies to one another and work together to combat bullying and #hate in all forms, not only today, but all day and every day - for no other reason than it being the right thing to do.

Ministers and MLAs in this UCP government can say they're allies but have to show it by not supporting and actually speaking out against their premier's push to endanger and enable violence against and self-hatred in our 2SLGBTQ+, especially 2S and trans& nonbinary communities
On #PinkShirtDay, we follow in the footsteps of the courageous students who started it all back in 2007, standing up proudly to show that bullying has no place in school – or anywhere else.
When we wear our pink shirts each year, we’re reminding ourselves and each other that doing the right thing is even more powerful when you do it together. Whether in the classroom or out in the community, making sure nobody is left out is a simple way to foster a culture of kindness.
@SearleTurton@demetriosnAB What are you doing to stop the large scale bullying of trans and nonbinary and Two-Spirit kids and adults by your premier's proposed policies?
