Taeyong is the leader, Rapper, Dancer, Vocalist, Center, Face & Visual Genius of the chart-topping, record breaking Group #NCT! He's NCT's ultimate all-rounder weapon and global stage dominator! He has an amazing voice, and can switch from sweet vocals to a deep sensual tone. He’s not just a rapper who can sing but a real artist whose voice keeps evolving! Taeyong is also an incredible dancer and is said to have one of the the strongest stage presences in Kpop Music. He’s dropped fire verses that define NCT’s edgy sound, and has choreographed killer routines, and written and co-composed over 70 tracks in 4 different languages for NCT and himself as a solo artist, and is in charge of Rap for All of NCT! Taeyong is also the leader, Main Rapper, Main Dancer, Vocalist, Visual Genius, Center & Face of the chart-topping, history-making #NCT127, one of Korea's Best-selling Groups of All Time! On April 8, 2016, Taeyong debuted on NCT's first sub-unit NCT U with the release of their 1st digital single "The 7th Sense", which he and Mark co-wrote! On July 6, he made his debut as the leader of NCT's 2nd sub-unit, NCT 127, with "Fire Truck" followed by their 1st EP, 'NCT #127'. Taeyong co-wrote 3 songs on 'NCT #127' and became the group's main rapper and main dancer, despite having no training in dance! In January 2017, NCT 127 released their 2nd EP 'Limitless'. Taeyong co-wrote 4 songs on the album, and also composed the track "Baby Don't Like It". In June, NCT127 released their 3rd EP, 'Cherry Bomb', with All songs but one co-written by Taeyong. The title track, "Cherry Bomb", was named one of the best K-pop songs of the year by Billboard and Idolator! Taeyong took part with NCT 127 bandmates Taeil & Doyoung on the soundtrack for 'the drama School' in 2017, and was the rapper & songwriter of "Stay in My Life"! In March 2018, NCT dropped their 1st studio album 'NCT 2018 Empathy' with Taeyong appearing in 5 NCT units on the album! He cowrote 5 of the songs on 'Empathy'. In May 2018, Taeyong joined the cast of the variety show 'Food Diary' with label mate Boa. Taeyong co-wrote 4 songs on NCT 127's 1st studio album, 'Regular-Irregular', including its lead single "Regular" which later became the debut single of NCT's Chinese sub-unit, WayV! In April 2019, NCT 127 released their 1st Japanese studio album, 'Awaken'. Taeyong co-wrote the song "Lips"!

In July 2019, Taeyong released his first self-penned & composed solo song, "Long Flight" which debuted at #6 on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart! In 2019, Taeyong also became a member of the hugely successful Superstar Group SuperM who went to No. 1 on the US Billboard 200 with their 1st EP 'SuperM', making history for becoming the 1st Korean act to top the chart with their debut release! The song "No Manners" featured on the album was co-written and co-produced by Taeyong. In 2020, SuperM released their 1st studio album, 'Super One' which debuted at #2 on the US Billboard 200 with 104,000 album-equivalent units & 101,000 pure sales, becoming the group's 2nd top 2 entry on the chart! 'Super One' debuted atop the Billboard World Albums Chart, becoming the group's 2nd chart-topper after their debut EP 'SuperM'. In Japan, SuperM went to #1 in 5 major charts on Line Music.

In March 2020, NCT 127 released their 2nd studio album, 'Neo Zone' with 3 tracks co-written by Taeyong! 'Neo Zone' debuted at #5 on the US Billboard 200 and sold over 1M units on Korea's Hanteo chart together with its repackage, 'Neo Zone: The Final Round'. NCT released its 2nd group-wide album, 'NCT 2020: Resonance' on October 12, 2020, followed by the 2nd part on November 23, 2020! It was a huge success, becoming their 1st chart-topper on the Gaon Album Chart as NCT, and was the group's 1st album to sell over 1M copies without any repackage. Taeyong co-wrote the title track for NCT 127's 3rd studio album 'Sticker', released in September 2021, which became the best-selling album in SM Entertainment history! Taeyong was credited as a choreographer and lyricist on the special album '2021 Winter SM Town: SMCU Express'.

In March 2021, Taeyong released a self-written demo single "Dark Clouds" and its remix on his own SoundCloud account which won the Top Comments Award at the SoundCloud 2021 Playback Awards! On April 14, Taeyong dropped his self-penned 2nd single "Love Theory" with Wonstein. In June 2023, Taeyong made his official solo debut with his EP 'Shalala', becoming NCT's first soloist! 'Shalala' went to #1 on the Worldwide iTunes Album chart after reaching #1 in over 30 countries & No. 1 on QQ Music’s Digital Album Sales chart in China! It debuted at #2 on the Circle chart in Korea with over 506k units and at #8 on the Oricon Album chart in Japan with over 12k units! In February 2024, after his first solo concert 'TY Track', Taeyong released his 2nd self penned EP 'Tap' which topped the Worldwide iTunes album chart, after reaching #1 on iTunes in 33 countries and debuted at #3 on the Circle Album chart with over 285K units and at #8 on the Oricon chart with over 15k units!

Taeyong made a powerful comeback after his military discharge with his full-length solo album 'WYLD' in May 2026, a 10-track, deeply personal sonic project showcasing his evolving sound which debuted at #1 on the Circle retail Album chart selling 248k units in its first week, and topped iTunes Album charts in 8+ regions, pushing his total solo sales past 1.1 million! He also dropped his amazing collab “Rock Solid” with Anderson .Paak!

Taeyong has won several individual and solo awards, primarily since his solo debut in 2023 with the EP Shalala including the Bonsang Award & the Reporter's Choice artist award at the 2023 K-Global Heart Dream Awards and was also honoured with the Universal K-pop Icon Award at the Universal Superstar Awards in 2024! He has received multiple nominations at the MAMA Awards (Song of the Year, Best Dance – Male Solo), Seoul Music Awards, Melon Music Awards, and Hanteo Global Artist categories. As part of NCT, he shares in the group's extensive wins across major ceremonies like Golden Disc, Asia Artist Awards, and more.

Taeyong has been endorsed by several top brands and was appointed Global Ambassador by the Spanish luxury brand Loewe after various Superstar appearances at various Fashion weeks. He was the face of Loewe’s Spring 2024 Pre-collection Campaign and in April 2024 became the face of the Loewe Paula's Ibiza Cosmic EDP fragrance. Taeyong appeared on the June 2024 cover of Singles Magazine as the newest brand ambassador for Benefit Cosmetics Korea! In April 2026 he was named Global Ambassador for EPT, a streetwear/lifestyle line. He fronts the "Comfort Complete" 2026 campaign, with flagship store appearances and collabs, marking a fresh domestic street-fashion push after his military discharge.

Taeyong is also a philanthropist. Ever since his debut, he has been quietly running a scholarship program in which he donates money to 4 underprivileged students every single month! In 2025 he donated 100 Million won to the Korean Red Cross to help with wildfire damage and aid for evacuees! This year he donated 20 million KRW to the Korea Council of Grouphome for Children and Youth (KGCY) to support kids in group homes. He also held a pre-military flea market, selling personal items and donating proceeds plus his own funds.

From a shy trainee who couldn’t dance to becoming NCT’s visionary leader, main rapper, and global solo force, Taeyong now commands stages with incredible charisma, and is riding high with WYLD and a sold-out solo tour, captivating audiences across the planet!
