Mel

Mel. LA. Talk to me about soccer.

[Mel @mlfrsr]

I love that even when praising Sinclair people always manage to diss Canada. "She scored all those goals despite having terrible service!" 😂

[Mel @mlfrsr]

@alexisohanian miss you at ACFC games, man! We need your energy at the stadium.

[Mel @mlfrsr]

@wpiootbgw Hatch goal vs. ACFC just now.

[Mel @mlfrsr]

@SarahSpain I blame reality tv for this. People didn’t realize that the Kardashians et al were having conversations on speaker so that production could hear both sides of the call, not because it’s a normal thing to do.

[Mel @mlfrsr]

@abitobsessive94 I feel the same way. Like even if you weren’t aware, you did benefit from the staff having this knowledge. Are they telling me none of this footage ended up in video review meetings?

[Mel @mlfrsr]

Seems like the narrative is the #CANWNT #CanXNT and #CanMNT players are 100% innocent, and there’s obviously nuance here… but none of that drone footage, secretly recorded practice footage, or any other spy footage made it into any video review sessions? Team meetings? None?

[Mel @mlfrsr]

@itsmeglinehan Turns out John Herdman really knows a lot about “highly illegal tactics.”

[Mel @mlfrsr]

@katemarkgraf Wow, I bet the discovery of the two way mirror was pretty wild!

[Mel @mlfrsr]

@katemarkgraf Did these incidents get reported? If so, did anything come of it?

[Mel @mlfrsr]

First major tournament for the #USWNT without an Olympic gold medalist on the roster in decades. How long has it been, @keepernotes ?

[Mel @mlfrsr]

Camille Ashton turning out to be one of the great villains of the #NWSL

[Mel @mlfrsr]

@thegoalkeeper GM has a pretty established record of unceremoniously giving people the axe, but this is still surprising after Stoney lead the Wave to winning the shield last season.

[Mel @mlfrsr]

@thrace I hope this works out, but is $275K a little steep for a midfielder from a high scoring team that only tallied 1.75 goals and 0.75 assists per season? Especially for ACFC that lost their top goal scorer this offseason?

[Mel @mlfrsr]

@obliquity_fc 6 foot frame?!

[Mel @mlfrsr]

@abitobsessive94 Pinoe and Sue (pretty vocal democrats) had the same design in 2020.

[Mel @mlfrsr]

@SheaSerrano https://t.co/qDWURleQCC

This goal by Alex Morgan vs. Germany is one of my all time faves. Pretty ruthless to barely celebrate too!

[Mel @mlfrsr]

I just want ONE game where the #USWNT plays well enough that the halftime and postgame narrative isn’t all about who wasn’t on the roster. #NZLvUSA

[Mel @mlfrsr]

To be clear, this is commentary on a missed opportunity for the organization as a whole rather than on a specific player that likely doesn’t get to pick the armband.

[Mel @mlfrsr]

While playing a friendly in Florida, the state of “don’t say gay,” German captain Popp is wearing a pride themed armband. USWNT captain Horan is not. Bummer. #USAvGER

[Mel @mlfrsr]

@lis_ashlee @GalPalSports Love that and the USWNT has definitely worn pride armbands and jerseys before, just feels like a missed opportunity on their part to not have one for this match given the location.
