I’ve been doing this for 6 years, in that time Twitter has turned from the Wild West to a direct far right radicalisation vehicle with skewed algorithms, overt racism and child sexual abuse images. It facilitates real violence, whether the incitement of riots or hate crimes.
@RichardBurgon Yes. I think its a good thing. But I do worry that's its just going to become like America, where each political faction has its own media and we all live in dysfunctional parallel universes dismissing the veracity of each other's news.
@SangitaMyska@mehdirhasan Serious question - could you team up with Cadwalladr's Verve troupe as well? The more clout the better - and the less factional the better imv.
@alexwickham@tomelleryrees@LucyGJWhite 'a scam designed to exploit the public' doesn't really cover it. We deserve to know exactly why someone would pay to do this and why effing Musk would allow it on this platform. Are there any real journalists out there following these kind of money trails? Why not?
@Bertrom You done good Badger lad! Your enthusiasm hs shone through in a way that's rare to find on the internet. I've found it inspirational. It's hard to keep going indefinitely and as the Tai Chi wisdom says - there's a time to give out and a time to take in. Have a deserved break!
@supertanskiii Spot on Super. I can't help feeling that AI could, in theory, be properly configured to end this awful era of disinformation. Trouble is, it's owned by posh wankers. But ultimately, democracy should be able to remove them.
Thank you to @DoubleDownNews for highlighting @thenerve_news’s Palantir reporting. This show with @PulaRJS is great new addition to UK media’s small but growing indie news ecosystem.
@mizgans True. I found that run quite exhilerating. Beating Man City at Anfield was an absolute highlight and all things considered, we played well enough to win that title. It was just chance that we didn't. I also don't think Iraola gives BR vibes. He doesn't seem as insecure.
@supertanskiii@Nigel_Farage@RobKenyonReform But Super, you've just replied to a cleverly edited clip from Farage which makes it look like Rob has made an irrefutable trueism. It's had hundreds of thousands of views. People don't watch the full debate. Farage isn't on glue. He just wants to win at the expense of truth.
@supertanskiii Yes - but does it even matter? If the billion £s social media campaign pushes a narrative that this guy is being bullied by a lying establishment? He, like Farage, is a victim - you could put a stick of celery on QT and X would still be able to get folks to vote for it.
@GuzKhanOfficial So true. It contains examples of people speaking freely - but then it distorts everything by amplifying controversy to ridiculous extremes and enforcing selection criteria run by robots and bad faith actors that end up suppressing good things in the public interest.
