@malenyev@lyrasie So the Romans conquered the Greeks only to become Greek and the barbarians conquered the Romans only to become Roman. Hmm. Dialectics, or something
@GoyEmpanada@avispartan1 Everyone knows Russia in 1917 is different than the USA in 2026. Not everyone knows, in terms of moral principle, what makes an imperial Russian officer and an American soldier distinct in the terms being discussed. “It’s different, obviously” isn’t an argument.
@GoyEmpanada@avispartan1 Like this energy would be understandable if it was an argument, but when it’s a question, acting so indignant is pretty silly. The number of time you have personally addressed it is pretty irrelevant to a person who hasn’t seen it before. You can just ignore it if you want.
@TheLastKebab@GoyEmpanada@avispartan1 He’s saying the person he’s responding to is comparing the Iraq war to the Russian revolution. He has not said anything that answers the question he was asked. He’s very capable of making his own arguments, you don’t have to implant one onto him, he’s just not doing that here.
@GoyEmpanada@avispartan1 There is a reasonable answer, that there *was* a revolutionary movement in need of officers in a way that doesn’t exist in the US, and that the majority of defector red army officers of note were conscripts, and the officer defectors were more often than not only WW1 officers.
@GoyEmpanada@avispartan1 You pride yourself so much on other people being unable to address your arguments as you actually make them, but then handwave what is ultimately a fair question. It is obvious the thing the Iraq war is being compared to is imperial Russian wars, not the revolution.
@MrCauli2137@RedFrontTweeter And considering higher profile (at least at the time) accounts like Hakim have straight up made calls to outright armed struggle during the 2020 uprisings in videos that were pretty popular and still very much up, if that is his position it’s clearly wrong.
@MrCauli2137@RedFrontTweeter Considering he’s openly paraded and condoned those who have engaged in murder and industrial sabotage in the US, I doubt it. In fact I think he would be somewhat insulted at your belief that he is engaging in self censorship on the matter.
@MrCauli2137@RedFrontTweeter This isn’t to say that he hypothetically wouldn’t support more if he saw it viable, but to say his view of non viability of revolution and advocacy for electoralism is still reformism. A reformist who would hypothetically be revolutionary *if* seen as viable is still a reformist.
@MrCauli2137@RedFrontTweeter I’ve watched him since he had fewer than 1000 subs. Neither of these things are a matter of censorship, as he is very open about his support for many other armed struggles. They are very clearly expressions of real opinion.
