Today is World Autism Awareness Day.
Established in 2007 by the United Nations General Assembly, the day highlights the need to improve the quality of life for people with an autism spectrum disorder so they can lead balanced and successful lives.
April is also Autism Month, which is meant to raise awareness of the needs of people with autism and their families.
