Kabelo won a R12.8m earthworks package on a R327m wastewater project in Ekurhuleni. 3 weeks later, men at the gate told him 40% belonged to them. He had the contract, machines and workers, but no longer controlled whether they could enter the construction site.

Mabasa reveals the one thing Ouaddou changed at Pirates
Recently released Orlando Pirates striker Tshegofatso Mabasa has opened up about the impact head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has had on the squad, revealing the key mentality shift that helped transform the team.
Despite parting ways with the Buccaneers, Mabasa spoke highly of Ouaddou, describing him as a demanding coach who expects maximum effort from every player.
"He is a good human being, I won't lie about that. He is very demanding," said Mabasa on the Soccer Beat podcast.
"He demands that his players run and run and run. Like you would have seen as well, that's what he expects from his players."
According to the former Pirates striker, Ouaddou has instilled a mentality where players are expected to fight for every ball, even when the odds seem against them.
"He has brought a change of mentality in the team. Even if I feel I can't get to a ball, I will still make that extra five-metre sprint and try. That mindset has become part of the team."
Mabasa believes the results of that approach were clear to see throughout the season, with Pirates players continuing to press and chase games until the final whistle.
"Look at how they chase games, even in the 90th minute players are still running like crazy. If you look at the amount of work some of the players put in during a game, the statistics are unbelievable."
The striker feels that Ouaddou's emphasis on intensity and work ethic has played a major role in shaping the current Pirates squad and the success they achieved.
"I think that is one of the biggest things he has brought to the team. It seems to be working for the players, for the collective and for the entire group."
With Pirates ending their long wait for the Betway Premiership title and securing a domestic treble, Mabasa's comments provide a glimpse into the demanding culture Ouaddou has built behind the scenes.
