"A heatwave is not the same when you’re in a shared room with three other people and no air conditioning, as when you’re in a villa with access to a pool and air conditioning.”

Indeed.
The intellectual production on the Russia-Ukraine war is an interesting illustration of the problem. Scholars bringing tons of "rich empirical data" only to reproduce the crudest ideological narratives. Doing "objective" descriptions and failing to predict any major sociopolitical development of the war. This intellectual and methodological crisis is a good case for a major study in the sociology of knowledge, in its own right.
Тридцать лет назад на выборах президента мы попытались не допустить создания в России корпоративного олигархического государства, которое будет представлять угрозу, как для самой страны, так и для ближайших соседей России. https://t.co/b2txnG6YSR
The "pilot zones" from which Israel will "withdraw" under the traitor Aoun's agreement are areas they never occupied in the first place.
But the agreement allows them to occupy them now, until Israel considers them safe for "withdrawal".

This is not Hiroshima. This is not Gaza.
This is Lebanon at night…
Israel is wiping out entire village after village, violating Security Council resolution SCR 1701, ceasefire agreement, and international law with absolutely no consequences.
The main factor in hindering all Venezuelan government response to earthquake relief is over a decade of most extreme and crippling Western sanctions on literally everything.
Beyond any argument.
Yet I have not seen any western media mention it.
Maria Stepanova was forced to leave Russia after speaking out against the invasion of Ukraine. In an ambitious new essay, she reflects on how exile and displacement are transforming national identity – and literature – in the 21st century.

@ewaldeng Perhaps, perhaps. 🤔 However https://t.co/16619V6phs tells me NIBE is a Swedish manufacturer of heatpumps. One man's madness is another's savvy marketing.
@infolibnews I'm a US citizen in my mid-60s. I've experienced the US from the Vietnam War through support for Salvador death squads, funding the Contras, Gulf Wars I and II, now Trump's bombing of Iran. As a "force to defend civilisation" the US has pretty odd credentials.
@infolibnews "President Trump has not escaped the Iranian trap, as I think some of his comments today indicate he is well aware. Either he fights to defeat the regime or America is finished as a force to defend civilisation."

@RusMission_EU "treacherous"? The Nazi attack was only treacherous if one believed the Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact protected the USSR from attack. Perhaps the Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact might be discussed?
@ewaldeng I thought at first he might be joking, but he was entirely serious, and without a shred of evidence. Something bad has happened: 🤔The Threat from The East may be involved.
@ewaldeng Here in Berlin a couple months ago we had a power transmission station firebombed, apparently by idealistic young leftists who seek to further justic by depriving the well-off of electricity. When discussing this a coworker suggested it might be The Russians™.
