This is the first thing my students see as they walk into our classroom. We canβt wait to add more positive messages to the board as we continue to build relationships and strengthen friendships! π @SandyPlainsES@cdavis21BCPS@JPlakosh
10 bags of trash were collected during the first SPES Community Clean-up of the year! How lucky are we to have families who want their children to have a safe, healthy school environment to enjoy?! β»οΈπ @SandyPlainsES@cdavis21BCPS@JenPlakosh@SustainableBCPS@BCPSOutdoorSci
It was a labor of love but I was able to prepare activities that saved 2,000+ bottle caps from the trash! Each 1st grader will get their very own caterpillar spelling activity to take home to practice their sight words ππ @cdavis21BCPS@JPlakosh@SandyPlainsES@SustainableBCPS
Our first APTT meeting of the year was a huge success thanks to the outpouring of support from our 1st Grade families! 80 people came together to learn more about how to support their young learner at home. Counting down until the next one! @SandyPlainsES@cdavis21BCPS@JPlakosh
Our 1st Graders participated in our first Book Swap of the year! Not only did we have lots of fun talking to our friends about the books, but we also helped take care of the Earth! π @MelitoTom@BCPSOutdoorSci@SandyPlainsES@cdavis21BCPS@JPlakosh
1st Grade has been hard at work picking up trash from our schoolyard! Theyβre determined to make our school environment a healthier place to be. The best part is that theyβre reusing their breakfast bags to collect the trash! @MelitoTom@cdavis21BCPS@JPlakosh@SandyPlainsES
Just a few of the incredible dioramas submitted by our students and staff! These snowmen were tired of being stuck outside in the snow, so we transported them to the setting of our favorite stories! Do you recognize any of these settings?βοΈ @SandyPlainsES@cdavis21BCPS@JPlakosh
Thanks to the creativity of our students and staff, these Book Character turkeys successfully lived to see another Thanksgiving! π¦ @SandyPlainsES@cdavis21BCPS@JPlakosh
15 Ss graduated from our Nonsense Word Fluency group! Reading nonsense words is important bc it helps train our brain on what to do when we encounter unknown words in books. The Ss took home NWF Uno and NWF Blending Cards to show their families what they learned! @cdavis21BCPS
βAmiraβ is out there! πIβm so excited to work with Ms. Rutherfordβs 1st grade class to encourage them to practice reading on Amira. Research shows that just 30 minutes of practice per week leads to stronger literacy skills! #TogetherWeSoar@SandyPlainsES@cdavis21BCPS@JPlakosh
As always, I am blown away by the creativity of our school families! Thank you to everyone who decorated a book character pumpkin! Your creations brought smiles to so many faces! #TogetherWeSoar@SandyPlainsES@cdavis21BCPS
Another batch of introduction letters and positive notes went home on Friday! I feel so fortunate to be able to make connections with our families! #TogetherWeSoar@SandyPlainsES@cdavis21BCPS
Our SPARK reward for demonstrating responsible behavior was to paint and hide Kindness rocks around PPES! Have fun finding them, Panthers! @Pleasant_Plains
