When I worked at a newspaper years ago, my male boss gave me a negative performance review because he claimed I was writing too many stories people weren’t reading (stories with less than 1,000 page views).

When I looked at the stories he was referring to, I realized he was looking at the wrong numbers (specifically he was looking at how my SC stories were doing on other McClatchy websites around the country like Idaho.. and of course my local stories aren’t gonna go wild there). My local stories were getting way more than 1,000 clicks per story... which is what we were supposed to be graded on).

When I called him out on this, he got mad and refused to give me a raise.

I left a few months later.

I think too many women have stories like this.
