Why do we wait until Gr.3/4 to identify struggling readers in FRENCH IMMERSION when we know that the achievement gap widens over time? Early screening in K/Gr.1 & evidence-based Tier 1 reading instruction would significantly reduce the no. of kids who struggle to learn to read.

This is #SD62. Our Millstream Elementary leadership students and biologist Michelle Boulay took to Millstream Creek today to pick up garbage and learn more about the area.
Everyone got drenched in the rain but they were all so happy to make a difference in their neighbourhood.

No child is ineligible for FRENCH IMMERSION. Researchers have been unable to identify specific attributes or characteristics that consistently predict success in 2nd language learning (Lightbown & Spada, 2013), indicating that every student has an opportunity to be successful.
