Those teaching English courses in high school this blog post is for you. Having discussions about what books to read and the impact of the books we read.
J'avais le privilège d'assister au congrès "J'enseigne en français" aujourd'hui. Une journée pleine de résautage, de réflexion & d'apprentissage 💜 @BAFF_SFU#frimm@MmeNero
Universal Design for Learning (UDL) isn’t about erasing differences to make “one-size-fits-all” lessons and assessments. Instead, it’s about recognizing barriers, naming them, highlighting them, celebrating them, and designing for them.
It’s not widely recognized, but PVPs are widely exposed to others’ trauma – students, their families, staff. If you find yourself exposed to trauma on a regular basis, read on to learn how to mitigate the effects of this. https://t.co/DBedOcGM4m
Weakest excuse some educators made recently for systemic disparity in education outcomes is that a group of Indigenous learners lives in poverty. Poverty doesn't reduce one's brain & heart power. Making limiting assumptions & having racist biases DOES negatively affect learners.
My parents or school never read stories with two dads to me.
I never saw pride flags as a kid.
I didn’t learn the word gay until I was in secondary school.
I didn’t see any gay role models on tv.
But I’m gay, and always have been.
Straight representation didn’t make me straight. Gay representation won’t make kids gay.
But not having a variety of representation will make some kids feel like they don’t belong, or are wrong.
If people won’t allow children to see the diversity of families, they’re failing them and putting their own prejudice above the wellbeing of their children.
Section 28 banned the ‘promotion’ of homosexuality in schools and is still having effects today, despite being repealed 20 years ago.
Ignorance or bigotry can no longer be used as an excuse and all children should see versions of themselves in our schools and in their lives.
@GlobalBC@EmilyLazatin Can you ask WestJet if they will not be delaying flights for planes that don’t have enough space for carry-on luggage? This seems to be a common practice & yet they increase prices so that more will be required to do this. Last time I checked my carryon my necklace was stolen!

Watching the Coronation and noticed that Justin and Sophie Trudeau were the only couple holding hands in the Commonwealth march. There IS a place for showing a positive loving relationship.
