A culinary school. A crisis. And a chef who didn't hesitate. The day after the earthquakes struck Venezuela, WCK reached out to Chef Corps Member Mónica Sahmkow—director of the Gastronomy Academy at UCAB and chef at Bocú restaurant in Caracas. Within hours, her academy's kitchens were producing meals for families and volunteers in need. Because the skills that make a great cook—precision, speed, the ability to feed many with care—are exactly the skills that matter most when a crisis hits. #ChefsForVenezuela #FoodIsLife
#ChefsForVenezuela #FoodIsLife
In response to the devastating earthquakes that struck Venezuela, AWMH is granting $100,000 in support through longtime partner @directrelief.
While the full scale of the damage is yet to be determined, the United Nations is reporting that up to 6.8 million Venezuelans may be affected, including those displaced or losing access to electricity and water. More than 68,000 people were reported missing within three days of the disaster, and the official death toll is approaching 2,000.
Direct Relief is preparing medical aid commonly needed after earthquakes, including first-aid supplies, hygiene items for displaced families, medicines used to treat acute injuries, and chronic disease medications for people whose access to routine care may be interrupted.
AWMH’s $100,000 grant will support Direct Relief as the organization continues to respond to requests in the region as they become known.

When you touch a cat's ear, it feels like you are touching the petal of a rose. I think God may have made them from the same material. It is all very beautiful
