I had the benefit of a further enriching and informative consultation with Bussinessman and political strategist @JimiWanjigi at the Wamunyoro residence today.
The journey for the liberation of our country is a tough one and very opinion and advice is crucial.
But we shall get there. It is a matter of when, not if.
Consultations continue.
God Bless Kenya.
What scares me sometimes is realizing that money in this country moves in ways most of us never even imagine.
You grow up being told to work hard, go to school, be disciplined, apply for jobs, pray to God, and eventually, things will align. Then, one random night, you are sitting with people over drinks, and the conversation changes. Suddenly, people start talking business. Not biashara ya motivational speakers on TikTok. Real business. The kind of business that makes you pause and think, wait… this is how people are surviving?
And funny enough, they don’t even talk about it like a crime. They talk about it casually. Calmly. Like someone discussing football or rent.
I remember someone telling me about a guy who transports counterfeit drinks between towns. Not during the day. From around 1 a.m. to 3 a.m. Quiet hours. Calculated hours. The kind of movement where everyone involved already knows what’s happening without saying too much.
The way they described it sounded like those village stories:
“If you can steal a cow after it has been silenced and jump the fence without anyone noticing, then you can survive this job.”
And honestly, when you hear it explained properly, you realize this thing is organized. It’s not just one reckless guy with a Probox. It’s a whole system. There are manufacturers, transporters, warehouses, and police checkpoints to avoid, routes to calculate, people to call before moving. A whole cartel!
Like the way movies show drug networks and cocaine businesses. Only this one is happening quietly around us every day while we are busy tweeting motivation quotes.
And then the crazy part is the money
Someone can make thirty thousand shillings in one trip. One trip!
Meanwhile, another person is waking up at 4 a.m.every day to earn twenty thousand a month.
That’s when your brain starts fighting itself. Because morally, you know some of these things are wrong or dangerous. But economically, you also understand why people get tempted.
Then there’s another side of Kenya. Brokerage.
If you’ve ever needed a service in certain offices, ministries, courts, or government departments, you know there’s always “a guy.” There’s always someone who tells you:
“Usijisumbue. I know a guy who knows a guy.”
And somehow, documents move faster. Files appear.
Signatures happen. Processes unlock. You realize some people’s full-time careers are just knowing who to call. They survive entirely on connections, shortcuts, and access. Their office is basically WhatsApp and favors.
Then there are the online money people.
Forex.Crypto.Binance.
Graphs moving up and down on iPhones at 2 a.m.
I remember someone talking about a guy she dated who was always staring at trading charts. Always watching numbers moving like heartbeat monitors in hospitals. Then one day, he asked her if she knew people abroad who could help with some business setup. "Ata watano wenye hawaogopi biashara"
And the way these people talk, they make risk sound normal.
That’s when you realize maybe the country has two economies.
The official economy we were taught in school,
And the underground economy, everybody quietly survives through.
One follows rules, and the other follows opportunity.
And honestly, sometimes I sit and ask myself if fear is the only thing separating some of us from money.😅😅😅
Because Mimi, I know I’m scared. I overthink. I panic.
I imagine consequences before profits. Some people hear “high risk” and become excited.
I hear “high risk” and start preparing my apology statement. But still, there’s a part of me that wonders:
Will some of us stay stuck forever because we are too careful?
Maybe there are people becoming rich simply because they stopped fearing uncertainty. Maybe courage and recklessness are cousins. Maybe survival in this country sometimes demands a level of boldness that soft people cannot afford, or maybe fear is the only thing keeping some of us alive and free.I honestly don’t know.
I just know there are many ways money moves in this country, and sometimes the people making the most money are not the people following the straightest roads. And maybe that is the most uncomfortable truth of all.

Dear God,
Thank You for the precious gift of life and for Your endless love, grace, and constant presence in our lives.
This morning, we surrender all our plans into Your hands. Go before us and make every crooked path straight. Order our steps, align our thoughts, and protect everything connected to us. Open the right doors that lead to growth, peace, and purpose, and close every door that is not meant for us.
Protect us and our families from harm and every form of evil, and surround us with Your peace and divine covering. Strengthen us in moments of weakness and guide us in every decision we make throughout the day.
Today, we declare that everything we touch will prosper, that no weapon formed against us shall prevail, and that Your goodness and mercy shall follow us all the days of our lives.
In Jesus’ Name we pray
Dear God,
This Sunday morning, we come to You with hearts full of gratitude. Thank You for life, for breath, for health, and for Your unfailing love that never leaves us.
We praise You for Your goodness, for Your protection, and for guiding us through every trial. Lord, You are our Comforter, our Provider, our Strength, and our Peace.
Today, we ask for Your wisdom in every decision, Your favor in every plan, and Your light to shine on our paths. Help us to honor You in all we do and to walk in integrity, purpose, and faith.
Bless our families, our work, our relationships, and our hearts. Keep us safe, focused, and full of joy as we step into this new day.
We lift this Sunday to You, trusting that Your plans for us are perfect.
In Jesus’ name we pray
i won't forget the day i came from school with my maths test paper that i scored 90% ...my dad knowing that i am not good with maths asked why i added the 0 and i said i didn't add it.
he gave me a few strokes but i still insisted and my mom joined, she was about to put pepper in my anus but i still insisted because truly i didn't add that 0, it was the 9 that i added.
dem just beat me for nothing. 😭😭😭
With less than 2 years to the next election, President @WilliamsRuto has shifted the national conversation like he did in 2021 when he introduced the “Hustler” narrative.
He made a section of the society imagine, believe and dream of a future where they mattered more to those in power than before. It was their turn to benefit directly from their State, the narrative said.
Now the nation is onto a new narrative - Singapore. The President is selling a new dream of possibility - that Kenyans can live like the people of developed nations (doesn’t describe what, exactly, that lifestyle looks like but hey….just imagine it and believe!)
Should he win in 2027, I imagine the new “Big 4 agenda” will slowly shift from Singapore to “Kenya Mpya” or something of the sort.
i have no desire to be rich so i can buy a lambo or birkins.
I want to be rich so I can control my time and go to the gym at 2 pm on a wednesday.
sit at a cafe and relax for an hour on a rainy afternoon.
so I can cook meals at home with fresh ingredients.
spend on my family and friends without worrying about a budget.
that’s my idea of a rich life, not the fake consumerist idea shoved down my throat.
There’s an employee who always used to laugh at small talk.
Polite, easy laughs at even the worst jokes.
But this week the laughter stopped.
Today I made a joke in a meeting.
Everyone chuckled except him.
Afterward, I asked if something was wrong.
He said he just didn’t find it funny.
I told him humor is a communal activity that brings teams together.
He said he was just trying to be more authentic.
I said authenticity is disruptive when it contradicts the room.
I noted “early stage morale withdrawal” in his file.
