🔴 Confirmed Facts
🫆An 8-storey building under construction partially collapsed on Friday evening, 8 May 2026, at Ole Nairi area in Oloolua Ward, Kajiado North Sub-County
🫆Eyewitnesses say the building came down at around 11pm following heavy rains, with several construction workers at the site when it caved in.
🫆At least one body has been recovered and taken to Ngong Sub-County Mortuary, with three others still missing and feared dead beneath the rubble.
🫆Families of victims have called on rescue teams to hasten operations, and the cause of the collapse is yet to be officially established.
🫆Residents had previously raised concerns about the construction, with a local mason alleging the mixture used “had more sand than concrete and cement” and that construction was completed unusually quickly

🔴 The Murkomen Ownership Allegations 🫆Social media is awash with photos of Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen in connection with the collapsed building story — the specific link between Murkomen and ownership of this particular structure is being alleged publicly but has not yet been officially confirmed or denied by Murkomen or the government.
🫆Murkomen is CS for Interior and National Administration — the very ministry that oversees internal security and the national government administration infrastructure in the county where the building collapsed.
🫆If the ownership allegation is confirmed, it would mean the CS in charge of national security and public order personally owns an unapproved, unsupervised, and deadly construction — a catastrophic conflict of interest.

🔴 The ex MP Joseph Manje Angle
🫆Joseph Wathigo Manje is the former two-term MP for Kajiado North (2013–2022), who lost his bid to become Kajiado Deputy Governor in 2022. He has business interests in construction and has deep knowledge of the area.
🫆Manje’s public statements on the collapse go to the heart of a governance crisis — his argument being that if a sitting CS’s own building was neither approved nor supervised, it exposes the total collapse of regulatory oversight.

🔴 The Regulatory Failure — Pattern of Impunity
🫆This is the second building collapse in the same Oloolua area — a six-storey building had collapsed there in 2022, meaning no structural lessons were learned and no deterrent enforcement followed.
🫆In May 2024, when a building collapsed in Uthiru, the then Roads CS Kipchumba Murkomen himself publicly stated that engineers who supervised such projects “must be held personally liable” and directed NCA to act — yet enforcement stalled. This makes the current allegations against him deeply ironic and damning.
🫆Angry residents accused the county government of delaying rescue operations for nearly 10 hours after the collapse — families waited desperately as those trapped remained buried

🔴 The Hard Questions
🫆If the building belongs to CS Murkomen and had no approved plans and no @ncakenya supervision, then it was an illegal construction — and deaths resulting from it constitute criminal negligence at minimum.
🫆 CS overseeing internal security cannot simultaneously be the owner of an unapproved, deadly building in a county under his administration — that is a textbook conflict of interest and an abuse of office.
🫆The whole structure should be demolished — consistent with Kenya’s own NCA enforcement policy on unapproved buildings, which has been applied to ordinary Kenyans without hesitation.
🫆Resignation is insufficient. The law — including the Penal Code on criminal negligence causing death — must apply equally regardless of political office. Ordinary contractors have been prosecuted for far less.
