SHAME ON KWARA STATE GOVERNMENT.

First of all, a warning:
If you have a soft heart,
Pls don’t watch this video.
This video will bring you tears.

Some women and young people went to protest at Kwara state Govt house about their husbands, children and family members being kidnapped by terrorists in some villages in Kwara State.

Rather than the govt speaking to them,
Rather than the police ensuring their right to peaceful protest and safety,

Right there in front of the government house, there was an unleashing of hired thugs who came out to beat these women silly and terrorise them. Right in front of the police who looked on and did nothing.

If you saw the start of the video:
These are poor helpless women who came to cry for help from a government they thought can sympathise and help them. Rather the government did nothing and hired thugs came with canes and whips to dehumanise these helpless people. They violated them and beat them black and blue till the women ran for their lives.

This is NOT a country. This is a jungle.
Please share this video and let the whole world see what the Kwara State Government did to helpless villagers who came to seek help for their family members that are victims of violent terrorism.

CHIMERISM : THE ART OF BEING MORE THAN ONE

Because some women do not just carry secrets.

They are the secret.

She came into the clinic for fertility issues. She left with an identity crisis. Because the blood in her veins said, “You are woman.”
But the cells in her ovaries whispered, “You are also man.”
And when she tried to prove maternity in court...yes, maternity, not paternity...the DNA test replied: You are not the mother of your own child😭

And this is not fiction. This is not folklore from Nsukka or a tale from an old biology textbook. This is chimerism...the science that reads like myth, and yet sits quietly in the clinic, waiting to be discovered.

Chimerism: The Art of Being More Than One

To be a chimera is to be a genetic mosaic. Not just mosaic in the way that some cancers mutate. No. This is different. This is when two fertilised eggs...two zygotes meant to become two separate lives...decide to become one.

They fuse. They negotiate. They become her.

So, she becomes two people in one skin... Gosh!

And sometimes, the body is polite. It says nothing. It carries both DNAs like quiet passengers.
And sometimes, it rebels. It blurs the lines between male and female. It changes what we thought we knew about gender. About genetics. About God.

And Then There’s the Fetus That Never Left

She gave birth. And decades later, her body still remembered.

Because some fetal cells don’t just pass through the mother. They stay. They linger like the smell of ancestral prayers on old fabric.

They nest in her lungs. Her thyroid. Her brain.

And sometimes, the immune system fights them. And sometimes, it mistakes them for invaders and becomes a war zone...autoimmune disease, they call it. But sometimes, these fetal cells do something sacred. They protect her from cancer. They heal.

And again, we see that science, like culture, holds contradictions. It wounds and it protects. It gives, and it takes away.

Twins Who Borrowed Blood

Imagine being born a twin.
And sharing not just toys, but blood.

In dizygotic twins, it happens. Their bloodstreams become confused, intertwined, merged like a well-stitched Ankara pattern. And then, one day, you discover your blood type isn’t consistent. Your genetic test doesn’t make sense. The results shift like sand underfoot.

And suddenly, the question isn’t Who are you? but How many of you are there?

And Sometimes, Medicine Does It Too

A woman receives a bone marrow transplant.
And she is healed. But also… transformed.

Her blood cells now carry her donor’s DNA. And if that donor was male, then within her quietly and without her permission are the XY chromosomes of another.

What does that mean for IVF? For identity? For genetics?
We don’t fully know.

But medicine, like humanity, must learn to sit with the unknown.

Why Gynaecologists Must Pay Attention

Because chimerism lives where you least expect it.

It hides in cases of infertility.
It disrupts preimplantation genetic diagnoses.
It challenges paternity...and yes, maternity...in court.
It lurks in placentas, in lab results, in moments of diagnostic confusion.

And while we focus on fallopian tubes and fibroids and follicles, chimerism sits in the background like an unsent text message...unread, and deeply consequential.

Final Thought

Science is a mirror. And sometimes, it reflects one face.
But sometimes, it reflects two.

So the next time you see a woman whose body tells multiple stories, do not be quick to conclude.
