AN OPEN LETTER TO THE HONOURABLE MINISTER OF AVIATION AND AEROSPACE DEVELOPMENT AND THE FEDERAL AIRPORTS AUTHORITY OF NIGERIA (FAAN) @faan_md
Dear Honourable Minister @fkeyamo
I would like to begin by commending your leadership and proactiveness in advancing the integration of cashless payment policies across Nigeria’s airports. This initiative is not only a significant milestone in strengthening transparency and curbing corruption within airport operations, but it also positions Nigeria in alignment with global aviation standards and best practices.
Your commitment to reform and modernization within the aviation sector has not gone unnoticed. As an aviator myself, I understand the complex regulatory environment and the long-standing structural challenges that have affected the growth of the aviation industry over the years. Many policies, restrictions, and international alignments once placed Nigeria at a disadvantage within the global aviation ecosystem. However, under your leadership, we are witnessing conscious and intentional efforts to reposition the industry to a level we can all be proud of as Nigerians.
I write today out of a strong belief in the power of collaboration. Sustainable progress in critical sectors such as aviation requires partnerships between government institutions and innovative private sector actors who share a commitment to efficiency, transparency, and global competitiveness.
At @usesfxmoneyapp we have built a financial technology infrastructure designed to enable seamless cross-border transactions. Our SFX Virtual Card is globally accessible and integrates with Apple Pay and Google Pay, alongside our unique Tap-to-Pay infrastructure, allowing users anywhere in the world to make secure and frictionless payments.
We understand that the FAAN Go-Cashless Card operates using NFC-supported technology, enabling travelers to simply tap their cards on POS terminals for payments across airport facilities. While this is a commendable step forward, we believe there is an opportunity to further enhance convenience, particularly for international travelers.
Through the SFX Virtual Card, users both Nigerians and non-Nigerians can make instant NFC-based payments directly from their digital wallets without the need to register for a physical card upon arrival. This would significantly reduce waiting time, eliminate onboarding friction, and improve the payment experience for passengers who need to transact quickly within airport environments.
Our confidence in this capability is backed by our operational track record. In the past ten months, SFx has achieved several key milestones:
•Virtual Card product launched in October 2025
•1,900 card accounts created
•1,750 active virtual cards
•$1.9M+ in card transaction volume within the last five months
In addition to our financial technology growth, SFx has also contributed to global blockchain and financial technology discourse.
Furthermore, SFx is proud to be a @circle and Stellar Grant Recipient, further validating the strength and credibility of our technology within the global fintech ecosystem.
Given these capabilities, we believe there is significant potential for collaboration between SFx and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to enhance the efficiency, accessibility, and global compatibility of Nigeria’s airport payment infrastructure.
We would welcome the opportunity to engage in further discussions with the Ministry and FAAN on how our infrastructure can complement the ongoing cashless airport initiative while improving the experience for both domestic and international travelers.
Thank you once again for your dedication to transforming Nigeria’s aviation industry. We look forward to the possibility of working together in advancing innovation and operational excellence within our airport ecosystem.
Yours sincerely,
Zayd Bakare

Collaboration has always been central to how I think about leadership, business growth, and community development.
I strongly believe that when the right people and institutions work together, we move farther and faster than when we attempt to achieve success independently.
In business development, partnerships are not simply about expansion.
They are about shared values, trust, and long-term impact.
This belief has guided how I approach my work and the kind of infrastructure I have intentionally built around partnerships and growth.
Cross-border transactions are not a new market. In fact, they are one of the most competitive financial ecosystems globally. The space involves transactions across multiple currencies, jurisdictions, and regulatory environments. Naturally, it has long been dominated by major financial players.
But what makes @usesfxmoneyapp different is perspective.
At Sfx, we are not simply building another fintech product.
We are building solutions rooted in lived African experiences.
The idea behind the Sfx Money App and Sfx Virtual Card came from a frustration many Africans have experienced:
the inability to easily access or use their funds across borders.
That feeling of limitation especially while traveling or transacting internationally was something we personally understood.
So instead of sympathizing with the problem, we empathized with it.
And from that empathy, we built a platform designed to ensure that no African should face that experience again.
At @usesfxmoneyapp partnerships are not just strategies; they are part of our DNA.
As the Team Lead for Partnership and Growth Scout, I have had the opportunity to engage with incredible brands, organizations, and communities across different countries and markets.
What we look for in these partnerships goes beyond business opportunities.
We prioritize:
• Shared values
• Integrity
• Innovation
• Community impact
• Long-term vision
Over the past few months, we have engaged in several partnership discussions globally, and we have already begun signing collaborations with organizations that share these principles.
Because Sfx is proudly an African brand with global reach.
We represent a global audience while staying rooted in African culture and experience. That means our mission cannot be confined to a single region or market.
Our doors remain open to partnerships.
In fact, my team and I are always ready to explore new collaboration opportunities because some of the most impactful partnerships often start with the simplest conversations.
If you haven’t downloaded the Sfx Money App yet on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, you might be missing out on a platform designed to make global financial access easier through:
• Cross-border transactions
• Crypto deposits
• Seamless global payments
• The Sfx Virtual Card for worldwide payment platforms
This is not a brand promising future possibilities.
This is a brand that has already built solutions designed to give Africans financial freedom without borders.
And we are only getting started.
“Too many young people today are waiting… waiting for opportunity, waiting for permission, waiting for someone to change the system.
But history has never belonged to those who waited.
It has always belonged to those who prepared, those who showed up, and those who decided that their generation would not be remembered for complaints… but for contribution.
I believe something strongly:
Our generation is not short of talent — we are only short of courage and collaboration.
The future of our communities, our institutions, and our nation will not be built by a few powerful people in big offices. It will be built by young people who understand responsibility, discipline, and service.
If you are a young person listening to me today, understand this:
Your influence is not determined by your title.
Your impact is determined by your values, your work ethic, and your willingness to serve.
We must move away from the culture of noise and move toward the culture of value creation.
Build businesses.
Build communities.
Build ideas.
Build institutions.
Because the truth is — the future will reward builders, not spectators.
Collaboration will take us further than competition.
Integrity will take us further than shortcuts.
Service will take us further than selfish ambition.
So wherever you are right now — in your community, in your career, in your business, or even still figuring life out — remember this:
Your generation is not powerless.
Your voice is not insignificant.
Your effort is not wasted.
The real question is simple:
Will we complain about the future… or will we build it?
I have chosen to build.
And I hope you will too.”

When Access Is the Difference Between Standing Still and Moving Forward for Sitra
Sitra stood quietly at the counter, her passport clutched tightly in her hands. She had rehearsed what to say all morning, hoping this time would be different. She was an international student, thousands of miles away from home, carrying the weight of her family’s sacrifices on her shoulders. All she needed was to receive money from home to pay her rent and tuition.
But the answer was the same.
“You need additional documents.”
“You need a local bank account.”
“You need proof you simply didn’t have.”
Back home in Africa, her mother had tried everything. Long queues at the bank. Endless forms. Questions that made her feel invisible. Despite having money, despite being honest and hardworking, the system kept saying no. Not because they lacked value, but because they lacked access.
Across Africa, millions share this story. Small business owners unable to receive payments from abroad. Freelancers blocked from global opportunities. Students stranded between borders, not by distance, but by documents and systems that were never built with them in mind. Borders became barriers. Banks became gates that only a few could open.
This is the reality Sfx set out to change.
Sfx believes that where you are from should never determine what you can access. That your dreams should not be delayed by paperwork, nor your progress stopped by geography. With Sfx, cross-border transactions become simple, fast, and inclusive. Africans can send, receive, and move money across borders with dignity. International students can focus on building their future, not fighting financial systems.
@usesfxmoneyapp is not just a financial platform.
It is a bridge.
A voice for the unheard.
A solution built for Africans, by understanding Africans.
Because access is not a privilege.
It is a right.
