Perhaps the original justification for this correctly named "suicide" was that Islam was more successfully resisting secularization than Christianity. As a result, the Vatican could ally with Muslims against secular Westerners. This turned out to be a fantasy. Islam is not successfully resisting secularism. Only apostasy laws keep Islam from collapsing, as unbelief is widespread. More to the point, Islam and secular Westerners have entered into an alliance, or, to put it more bluntly, secular Westerners have capitulated to their Muslim immigrants. Worse, the current reigning ideology in the Vatican is a religious facade on secular European tyranny. The real alliance, then, is among Islam, secular Europeans, and the Vatican.
